whats the difference between these two? i didnt see the just email app before i set up all of my email accounts on the mail@metro app. what are the differences, i am kinda liking mail@metro because when i get a notification it tells me exactly what account its for with a little logo, on my last android it would just show a letter icon is this what the regular email app does on this phone? just wondering if its one more thing i can freeze...:D

Those 2 are linked somehow. So if you uninstall mail@metro( or whatever its called), the other app won't work and I have confirmed this. There have been other users who have freezed or deleted mail@metro and they started having problems with Email.

That's strange. I have seen other forums were people say that has happened. Oh well

I deleted email 2days ago and everything seems fine so far. Maybe I lucked out.

Nevermind, the users are reporting that Email doesn't work without mail@metro, not the other way around. Sorry for the confusion

oh ok thanks, i wont touch them but i was more curious as to what the differences are between them i the way they work?
but thank i will definetely not touch the apps ow, no way do i want my email not working..lol

I think that like the same way manufactures put skins on top of stock Android, mail@metro is a skin for Email in order to make it more functional or appealing and easier to use.

Actually mail@metro is MetroPCS homegrown app. I have seen it on lower end phones that dont have a true email client. I used to also have it on my Samsung Code, but never used it as I used the normal built-in Outlook mail client.

I removed mail@metro from my Optimus M and no issues.

Why is it that when you delete mail@metro, Email doesnt work.

Just wanted to report that four days after deleting mail, my mail@metro app is still working like a champ.

No, I'm just letting everyone know that I was able to delete mail & still have mail@metro work just fine..

I guess the final concensus is that it is safe to remove Email, but not mail@metro.

Actually Mail is builtin to Android. mail@metro can be re-downloaded from the metro store.

I noticed that if you removed something the system might become unstable, but a reboot usually fixes it.

When I removed SNS.apk same thing happened...kept getting FCs on some android.process. Rebooted and the problem went away.

i deleted the metro mail and just use the stock gmail and downloaded the yahoo one from the market and i haven't had any problems
