Help Major Issues with My Droid X

So I'm sure others have had these same problems, but I must be missing them.

I bought the DX and for the most part I love it but there are some major flaws. I'm not sure if Froyo will fix it when it comes out or what. All I know is that I'm getting rather frustrated.

Some of these problems are:

  • I'm a power GMail user, I have a huge address book. It's nice that it's all on the DX but when I try and call someone or find a number it takes for ever to get to that persons name and sometimes hangs when I clic to get more information? What's up with that?
  • The battery drains within a half a day for me. I figure that it's because I use my phone quite a bit, but I'm curious what others think about this. I do have GPS, BT, WiFi off now and it's going a bit better.
  • The screen sometimes loses touch ability, which can get quite annoying when that's the only input method. I have a screen protector that is made for the DX, i'm not sure if that's the problem but I don't to go without one.
  • When my DX leaves the car doc or exits a call it takes a little while to recover and go back to the home screen.
  • The app tray is a bit laggy at times too.
The main issue is the phone functionality. How can I speed this up?

Thanks Man! I appreciate it. I really need help. The phone book thing is a deal breaker for me. Oh by the way I even rooted my phone to see if that would help. Nope.
 
I think most of your issues are software based and will hopefully be fixed when froyo comes out but I'm not sure if anyone has a way to fix the on 2.1
 
But so for the contacts area, there's nothing I can do to speed this up? I really have a large contacts area. I don't want to limit my usage of my Google address book, but I want my phone book on my phone to work within 5 seconds not 5 minutes.

Any ideas people?
 
Dude, mine lags with a quarter of that number. I would say it is software related. Quite a few users are reporting general lag issues.
 
Not as long as your lag, but again, i don't have as many contacts either. As for software, you will have to wait until froyo comes out to see if the new software resolves it.
 
Can you explain what a hard reset is? Obviously more than just powering down your phone, I'm guessing.
 
1) Turn down your brightness to 3%
2) Uninstall whatever Task Killer and/or Anti-Virus you have on the phone.
3) Use WiFi whenever available (3G eats more battery)
4) Download Gesture Search, that should help you find contacts faster and easier
5) Do the latest update by dialing *228 and choose Option 1, then again and choose Option 2.
 
Very very random and late response. Did you download the FB app from the market at all? I found that slowed my phone down ENORMOUSLY and also drained tons of my battery very quickly. As soon as I deleted the FB app and left it strictly as the FB social network that came with the phone, all was good. Just a suggestion
