Help Major music/playlist bugs

I received my Samsung Galaxy from 02 today and, having encountered the SD card problem with needing to manually install drivers (which I got round, eventually), and having discovered that I can't turn off the T9 (I turn off 'Next Word Prediction' in settings but T9 is still always active when I go to write a new message), I've now run into what looks like a dealbreaker.

I use MediaMonkey to manage my music. After finally getting my PC to recognise and access the phone's internal memory, I synced an album and a playlist just to test, and have found a pretty bemusing problem...

It's synced one playlist multiple times, and I can't delete them.

Initially one of the versions of this playlist had tracks, whereas the other two were empty replicas with the same name. I couldn't figure out how to delete them so I formatted the internal SD card to try and remedy it.

And not even that's worked. They're still there. Phantom playlists; empty but unkillable.

Anyone else experienced this? Help would be much appreciated.

Is there any reason that actually formatting the SD Card wouldn't get rid of this, though?

Coupled with the triple-syncing of a single playlist this seems very odd...

Yes i too have found it easy to get the storage mixed up internal/external i havent yet discovered if its possible to choose a default location for music files the way you can with the camera and camcorder!

Nope, linux automaticaly scans all forlders and searches for media files. Sort of annoying on some occasions.

yep this is why i have to make a .nomedia file in my pron folders
dont want it displaying in my gallery along side photos of my gran

I've now come up against another apparent bug - the phone doesn't seem to recognise the .wma files i have synced to it from MediaMonkey.

All other files are fine, however.

Does the Galaxy not support .wma's?

No it does not, so it's not a bug, its a feature! Or lack of.

'Misleading' isn't the word.

Oh and it's still syncing every album as both an album AND a playlist.

One weekend with the Galaxy and I'm getting fed up now. I love the Android interface and the apps, but the niggles do not bode well for a 24month contract.

I think I may send it back within the 14 day refund window and wait for the Droid to get a UK release instead.

That wouldn't surprise me tbh.

In truth I'm also not sure I could ever fully adapt to an on-screen keyboard, so the Droid might be a better option. That, and it looks cooler.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Galaxy; I just don't love it. 24 months is a long time to be stuck with something you don't love.

That said, I'm unsure whether a smartphone is really the best idea for me. I'm used to having a battery-friendly phone and a dedicated battery-friendly music player; perhaps combining them with an all-singing, all-dancing battery-battering smartphone wasn't such a good idea.

I do like the idea of an Andorid-powered music player, though. Perhaps the Creative Zii could be a good shout...

- refreshing the list of songs sometimes takes a reboot
- if you reach the player via taskbar, back button takes you back to
the home screen, there is not way to access the albums and playlists!

I FOUND A SOLUTION
i have the exact same problem with my samsung galaxy 3s, with the software 4.1.2. the playlists content disapears all the time.
what helped on my phone was to make a backup on your pc, from the phones and SD-cards memory, then format your phone (both phone card) PROBLEM FIXED. I know it takes some time to restore everything, i recommend that you install "backup and restore" and "playlist backup" on your phone and make a backup on your apps and playlist. good luck

PS. install only the apps that you need (it could be an app that did made the bug)
PPS. if you can use another music player than the default one, that could also prevent the bug, i am using "Now Playing"
