Root major trouble with s-off...

i am running ubuntu 13.04. i have an htc evo 4g lte...with 3.16. i downloaded the android sdk toos with fast boot. they are in my home folder named "android-sdk-linux"..i am finding it impossible to achieve s-off...am trying with facepalm...i think thats the one needed for linux..but cant seem to get the cmd run codes to work....i also have the "dns rescue" img file as well...but not sure where to put it or what codes to run...i have gone through all the forums...but cant seem to find a walkthrough for linux...i have already rooted and unlocked with htc unlocker. i am on rom viper4g 3

First off, I don't know what to do that will help you with that method. I do not think I have heard of anyone in here being successful with that method. But I may have missed someone.

I am thinking though, that the route you are going to end up taking will be found here.

Last I heard, you have to be ob 3.15 to use facepalm. You need to use dirty racun to downgrade to 3.15. At that rate you might as well finish your s-off with dirty racun.
 
ok... couldn't find how to do on linux...so i reformatted and installed windows 7....little bit more research and got it...with facepalm and 3.16....so now the fun begins. i had viper with s-on...what are some better roms that take advantage of s-off?
 
@ocnbrze: thanks man..i was determined...lol...with the new viper..i did a dirty flash before i did s-off...so..still on that...dont know if there is any benifit to re flashing the image cleanly now that have s-off..does anything work better? and i have had jellybang rom on it before...i liked all the features...but it sucked cause i got shitty reception and people on the other end of my calls couldnt hear me...had to yell and was told i sounded like i was in a wind tunnel. sorry for vulgarities...new yorker ova heah..lol.... i have seen that sense uses something to boost their signals? cant remember...but have been hesitant to use aosp roms ...not sure if these issues are only with jellybam...and i have seen that that rom has been removed from this site..i assume for being to much like pacman rom...which looks really good...can pacman rom have cpu oc? like meanbean? well...thanks for all help. much appreciated. will be checking this thread..like every 2 mins...lol.
 
any rom regardless of aosp or sense can be oc, you just need an app and a custom kernel to do it......so yes pacman can be oc'd. i like the komodo kernel. and roms for the most part do not touch the radios so there should be no difference with call quality or 3g/4g reception.

just make a nandroid backup and try pacman. if you do not like it, you can always restore back.
