Malaysia Airlines tragedies

Spoken like a true democrat...

I heard on the TV news, googled it, told y'all, and for that I get slammed.

I'm not slamming you, and I'm no democrat. FOX NEWS is known for sensationalist reporting. If I were to be slamming anyone it would be FOX.

Breaking news; Malaysia has confirmed that MH370 DID change course, overfly the Malaysian Penninsula and was tracked by military radar heading into the Indian Ocean towards Bay Of Bengal.

Just watched that latest update. A real shame it's taken them so long to confirm the data they've had. Should it have taken this long?
So they're confirming a deliberate act.

Malaysia's Prime Minister: "These movements are consistent with the deliberate action of someone on the plane"
The communications systems of missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 were deliberately disabled, Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak has said.
And a possibility of up to 7 hours flight time could make it a very long way off these waters. At least this might give some small hope to relatives as the plane didn't crash and burn straight away, but this looks very much like a botched hijacking or worse.

Since 1948, 83 planes were missing and most were found again. 5 of those went off radar over the Bermuda triangle.
If you click on the link below and look at the info, for 1 missing plane it took 72 days to find the crash site and bodies:0 that's just on land. This plane went down in water. And the fact that We don't even know exactly where, automatically makes this a "trying to find a needle in haystack" situation

Whatever happened, I think you should sell your Malaysian Airlines stock right now... the already-weak name has been cursed.

So it seems the plane was deliberately diverted and may have flown for up to seven hours.
BBC News - Missing Malaysia Airlines plane 'deliberately diverted'
...this is coming from the Malaysian PM via the BBC, and not Fox News.

BTW I just booked my flight to the UK in June, Aeroflot via Moscow. Because it was the cheapest this year. ..and so far in travelling between the UK and China, it's been Emirates, Cathay Pacific, Qantas, Air New Zealand and Malaysia Airlines last year.

I seen the link and now say hmmmm they say its something they keeping a secret I wonder what they found in the pilot home he was the geek . this means he know the amount of runway it takes to land and take off , this guy also knows the systems that can be cut off and the fuel to complete a flight pattern to any location.but the key words of geek can answer where and what a plane can do . as I said before I think this plane has landed and can't make radio communication or have enough fuel to move . just sitting and this was the results of them having a passenger in the pit that had to be back home . key words JOY RIDING....

but the key words of PILOT can answer where and what a plane can do

Ftfy.

No location, altitude or speed data are sent with the system being reported as the MH370 trying to check in with a handshake signal to the satellites.

The satellite can tell an antenna angle from those transmissions - whatever they were or from wherever they originated.

That antenna angle, mapped back to the Earth, is shown in the two arcs in the infographic from Mike's BBC link -

Without triangulation, that's the best info you can get from a housekeeping system like that.

Those are not flight paths. Those are possible regions, mapped back down to the ground, of what the satellite can say about position - if and only if all reported data are true.

The #1 point in this graphic says "one communications system disabled" -

That would be ACARS.

I don't know how they're proving that it was switched off on purpose or at that point.

That was about the location of one scheduled ACARS transmission and before the next.

So, the flood of reports coming out say:

  • radar shows them going in one direction - if true
    • by unnamed sources, last I saw, we had a confirmed position only, and other radar tracks not confirmed to the MH370 but could have been
  • if the radar direction is true anyway, the arcs derived from the satellite antenna angle don't agree that would be the final heading
    • so the mysterious satellite data may not agree at all with the mysterious radar reports
  • and many sources are insisting that the plane was tracked thanks to ACARS data
    • that whole theory is in disagreement with the satellite arc reports
    • and that whole line of thinking is at odds with the reports that ACARS was switched off

So - we have:

  • radar, satellite arc, and ACARS reports getting blended together across the internet (safety tip - those things don't blend yet)
  • the Malaysian *police* leaking the story that this was a hijacking but not going on record because they weren't authorized to speak to the press (because the police would know when no one else did, and please check if you don't believe me - the hijacking thing was leaked by the *police* first)
  • official Malaysian authorities saying that anything is possible, nothing being ruled out, including hijacking
    • He said the "movements are consistent with the deliberate action of someone on the plane."

My opinions of the press and what's going on haven't changed, so I'm restricting this post to none of my opinions, just the reports being claimed to be facts.

Maybe it helps to see them all side-by-side, so that's what I've tried to do.

Here's my infographic that sums up the conflicting reports:

:pcguru: (RADAR) <-- :stupid: --> (satellite arcs) <-- :boxing: --> :hello: (ACARS)

Here's another infographic for something that is left out of that one and what's being done:

:deal: (eyewitness sightings) ---> :dontknow:

Finally, here's an infographic of where the reports I've seen are still coming from:

:listen: (unnamed sources talk to press) ---> :pound: (press demands official admission)

^^ There is what the Prime Minister actually said. ^^

ABC news cut this video and the reporter claimed the PM said things that the PM never did.

The BBC webpage linked earlier does not show the entire briefing.

If you want to hear it for yourself rather than filtered through reporters, there you go.

I'm not going to summarize or call attention to any points there.

If you're interested in the full statement, you can listen and judge for your yourself.

My opinion: it's well worth it to listen to the whole thing and get the unfiltered statements, directly from the Prime Minister.

Just filling the trough:

Satellite data shows hijacked MH370 was last seen flying towards Pakistan OR Indian Ocean as investigators search pilots' luxury homes and reveal one had home-made flight simulator

Investigators say the missing Malaysia Airlines jet was hijacked, steered off-course and could have reached Pakistan.

A Malaysian government official said people with significant flying experience could have turned off the flight's communication devices.

The representative said that hijacking theory was now 'conclusive', and, as a result, police have raided the luxury homes of both the captain and the co-pilot.

Also from the article -

While Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak refused to confirm that flight MH370 was taken over, he admitted 'deliberate action' on board the plane resulted in it changing course and losing connection with ground crews.

Perhaps interesting to compare with the full conference video linked earlier.

The airline, then the guvment, are gonna run out of money to keep hunting. Then they'll just be hoping that you and I lose interest pretty soon, so they can put this in their past... good luck.

Thing is where do they draw the line and stop searching completely? Likely the operation will eventually be scaled down if nothing new comes to light.

FWIW there's a whole list of aircraft that vanished, with apparently no wreckage or bodies found.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aerial_disappearances
...Although most of them are small aircraft, and not a massive Boeing.

Gave me the creeps as well when I first saw it, and I wasn't a kid. ..even though it's a low budget made for TV movie. Watched it again the other night.

Yes agreed. Still frightening. It give you a sense of loneliness thinking what if it was me. Terrifying.
