Help Malicious apps?

Has anyone had any apps that seriously affect the performance if their phone? Like any freezing issues? How can you tell which ones are bad eggs?

Read the comments on the apps, that's the best line of defense. There have been virtually no intentionally malicious apps that I've seen. Just some poorly designed ones that can force close, drain battery, etc.

What about launcher pro? Any force close issues our settings that create freezing issues?

Android doesn't need antivirus

Anti-virus apps can pretty much only protect you from known exploits... if there aren't any known exploits there's not much an anti-virus app can do except waste memory and battery.
