Root Maps is KILLING my battery

I have no clue why maps has been using so much battery. I have location off, signed out of latitude (used to have it on). Sometimes I use the gps almost on a daily basis, but as soon as I'm done I turn everything off. I'm on ROM #2.1.

Has anyone also had this problem?

Please help!

IT'S NOT THE ROM

k you need to disable it from your auto start manger, if you use Rom tool box its the first page ( tools) scroll down till you see auto start manager click on it then scroll down till you see maps tap on it and that would disable it from running in the background :-)

Thanks! I will try this. Would freezing the app in ROM manager help as well??

I just delete/uninstall it until I need it then I reinstall it. But I hardly ever need Gmaps. But if you do uninstall it / delete it you lose "Local" "Places" and the Navigation app. (Which in my opinion is the best navigation app around)

I am glad I am not the only one having this issue with maps... I am guessing it's because of an update...

I just downloaded rom toolbox to freeze it. It was getting on my nerves how many times it constantly ran in the background after the update. I froze it, in case I ever need to use it ill just un freeze it.
