Market app gone, Google Party not on phone

This was supposed to be a seamless transition, right? Well, my phone longer has the Market app (there's still a shortcut on my home screen that does nothing), and the new Google Party app is nowhere to be found on my phone.

So how do I get apps onto my phone without an app-getting app?

Lol yes I do! I was looking for Google Play.

Unfortunately, when Itap the app, it says "this application is not installed on your device".

Well, apparently they are the same thing, no? I guess there's been a little reorganizing and a little re-branding, but essentially they are the main site for Android apps, right?

What I do know is I currently do not have access to either from my phone, which sucks.

1) That's not helpful at all.
2) There is no difference, just a different name and icon, it's still the same app.

You might need to re-install the Google Play store app on your phone. Using your web browser on your phone go to the Google Play website and search for the app and download the App again.

Well, that is the obvious choice, of course. Unfortunately, at the time I had this problem, there was no app to download. For all I know there still isn't. This change was initiated by Google as an "under the hood" update. It was not possible for the end user to go out and update to the new market app on their own, you just had to wait until it was your device's turn to get the app.

As it turns out, I committed one of the worst cardinal sins a tekkie can commit...I did not reboot my device. Doh! As soon as a rebotted, everything sorted itself out and all is good now.
