Market stalling at download CURE :]

At last!

After 2 days trying to update Handcent on Market. I have finally discovered why the download stalls.

I uninstalled 'Start up Auditor and the downloads immediately started.

I have spent days changinf from Gmail to google mail and nothing worked but this did!:)

You need to read that again....

As for this problem, its the same for me. I think its a google problem with the market and nothing to do with any apps, cos its been the same for me too, but now everything seems to be OK.

Or do a power cycle and then do this :D Found the market can force close when trying this on occasion without turning off/on
 
Apps and updates quite often get stuck on "Starting download," but I've noticed this depends on what network I'm connected to.

Yup, same here. Only ever stalls when I'm connected to the wifi on campus, mobile network and my home network are both fine. Pretty strange...
 
i get this from time to time, seems after a cancellation of download and then retry fixes things for me.

This worked for me, I had 'Retro Camera' stuck in my download queue. Everytime I tried to install it it said it was already being downloaded, if I clicked on the cancel download it would crash the Market app with a force close.

Always seems totally random to me, works fine one minute then something stalls the next - gotta put it down to the market itself really, hopefully at some point google will realise that people like to use the market and download apps from it, and at least consider fixing it.
 
Just put mine into usb dock and had 4 downloads that have been hanging around for days all start and install within seconds :confused:
 
HTC EVO (greatest phone on earth IMHO)--problem: Market was hanging while installing update of Handcent SMS. Deleted Handcent SMS and then couldn't reinstall because Market was always stuck at "downloading." Got FC if I tried to cancel the download. Followed instructions above about going to Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, select Market, then (a) Clear cache, and (b) Clear data. Problem solved! Reinstalled and I'm back in the texting business. Was just starting to get used to chompSMS, but I think I prefer Handcent SMS just a bit more. BTW, I swear this problem of a stuck install was devouring my battery; didn't really have problems before, but when the install got stuck, my battery life tanked noticeably.
 
i had this problem as well. got my phone yesterday, tried downloading my first payed app today and got stuck. after trying everything i gave up. and after 5 or so hours it randomly downloaded
