Help Marquee Vs Optimus S

Hi guys.

I currently have a Lg optimus s. Which is giving me issues, so I'm thinking of switching to the Marquee. How does the Marquee compare to the optimus S?

I did a bit or research, and it seems the 3g speeds are considerably slower then the optimus. Some claim a poorer batter life as well. Can you guys confirm or deny these claims? thanks.

3g not sure. battery life could definitely be better.

Mine varies. Right now I'm getting between 900 to 1500 + down. Those speed tests really fluctuate too...... they always have.... even with my Prevail.

Thanks for the info. I've noticed your using the CT rom. Do you know if the phone's 3g was faster with the mod or was it the same as stock?

I honestly can't answer that. I installed CTMod as soon as I got the phone. I'm sure it's faster with CTMod because I believe Bloodawn has done a few tweaks to the ROM.

It would be interesting to see a comparison.

I should be getting my Marquee in a few days. I'll speedtest a few times and post the results before and after the root/rom
 
In stock form it will probably be slower. Not sure about the optimus speed, but with mods like CTMod and PRL swaps, this phone can move. I can get between 1500-2300 based on location.

I came from the optimus v ( virgin mobile's variation of the s) and I can honestly tell you that the marquee is far better. Once we got ctmod, and the 3d hack the marquee is a beast compared to the optimus s. And to tell you the truth I'm in NYC and the marquee's 3g is way faster. Not to mention you can actually play games like temple run, shadow gun, dead trigger, and mass effect infiltrator on the marquee. Those games would never run on the optimus s. And then there is the screen resolution (marquee hdpi 800x480 vs. The optimus V's paltry mdpi 320x480) quite a difference in clarity. Get this phone follow all the root,hack and mod tutorials to the t,m and you will be quite glad you made the upgrade.;)

Yep. That Mass Effect is sweet. Temple Run is nice too. :D

Thanks for the Info. I hope the 3g is faster. I live in Queens and rarely get above 600k on the Optimus. I've heard about the CTmod (that's the rom right?) What the 3d hack though?

3d hack was 1 line of code in the ramdisk that was changed. Before it was enabled, the UI on the Marquee was quite laggy. The newer kernels all have it enabled, so no need to do anything at all

So if I have the latest version of the CTmod. I don't need to do anything?
 
Latest CTMod (3.68) has the hyper kernel in the zip, which includes the change, so yes, just loading CTMod 3.68 is enough.

It is a line of code which was found and deleted by forum member imfm which drastically improved the 3d performance on this phone. Since that discovery the kernels for this phone are becoming better and better.
 
I'm using a flashed (to virgin mobile) marquee. I get pretty good battery life depends on location (3g radio is a hog in bad areas). I came from the optimus v same phone as your basically. Big difference love it post update. before the update was only getting couple hours battery though and alot of things were messing up.

Thanks for the info. I got a use phone and the battery sucks down 50% in about 4 hours with hardly any use at all. IF that normal or was I given an old/defective battery?

the hyper kernel is undervolted. Yesterday i was crazy busy at work, didnt use my phone hardly at all, and had the phone off charge for 6 hours and it was at 66%.

so if you didnt use your phone at all and had that low of a charge left u should probably switch kernels, also turn ur display to auto-brightness optimization.
