Marshmallow Update OTA MetroPCS LG G Stylo

Doesn't seem to be downloading. Looks like I'll have to wait until 11 pm!

EDIT: I got the restart and install button.

Installing now

I'm thinking mm has issues my wife's stylo is all stock and it rebooted fine. The first user initiated restart caused her phone to be stuck at the metro logo.

Those who missed download and update MM file but no longer receives prompt, try 11:30pm trick.

1. Battery fully charged

2. Connect to wifi

3. Go to phone setting, date and time tap, uncheck automatic time adjust

4. Set Date 05/13/2016, Time 11:30 PM

5. Go back to system update and check again

If your Metro Stylo is rooted, do not flash the OTA.

Flashing an OTA while rooted, will cause problems including possibly bricking the phone.

You will need to go back to stock to accept the OTA.

So far, I see the following changes:

-Google Now on Tap
-Advanced text messaging
-Video Calling
-Permissions control (you can approve or deny permissions for apps)
-Pinning ("locking") apps in Recent Apps -you can pin an app in recent apps that will stay there even if you hit the Clear All button (this may have been on Lollipop but cannot remember)
- Do Not Disturb replaces the Priority Notifications feature
- Ringtone ID where you can set a ringtone for Contacts, Everyone or Favorites
-Doze (You can't see it but it is a battery saver built in Marshmallow)

Marshmallow feature not on the Stylo:
No Adoptable storage (LG removed it but there is a way to enable with some tinkering)

Not sure how, I'm new to LG . If you have Titanium Backup, there may be a file that you can freeze but I'm not sure which file on an LG phone.

(I was actually answering the person a few posts above yours.)

So, Marshmallow for MetroPCS is finally here huh? Well, it's about time. However, in order to root Marshmallow, you have to unlock the bootloader via fastboot first.

And without a computer, you'll be stuck on stock Marshmallow. That's the only thing stopping me from updating right now.

can you unlock the bootloader via fastboot after you take the update or does it have to be done before? and beyond that the process to root the metro version of mm works?

Once you update to stock Marshmallow through the OTA, then you can unlock the bootloader via fastboot in order to root and install TWRP recovery. I heard that Lollipop didn't even have fastboot to begin with.

And as far as rooting methods are concerned: I suppose you can follow this guide here.

I know. I like this phone but I'm not used to being no development on custom ROMs. Usually, there is some type of "fix" built in custom ROMs or a way to stop seeing OTA updates but I don't know how. Maybe someone here or on XDA knows.
