Marshmallow Update OTA MetroPCS LG G Stylo

Those who missed download and update MM file but no longer receives prompt, try 11:30pm trick.

1. Battery fully charged

2. Connect to wifi

3. Go to phone setting, date and time tap, uncheck automatic time adjust

4. Set Date 05/13/2016, Time 11:30 PM

5. Go back to system update and check again

My god, I just wanna say thank you! Cause of course my dumbass tries to install it right away without thinking while I still had TWRP it failed of course but no brick. Now when I try to get the update after I got stock recovery back it didn't even show that I needed an update.

i tried this update wont install says rebooting now never reboots

I was rooted with TWRP on 5.1.1.
Used the guide - LG G Stylo (H631/MS631) v10j Stock Restore
I'm unrooted and no TWRP.
Press the install button, counts down and fails to reboot to install.....
Confused.

Only thing I could possibly think of, is after all the other things I was doing to the phone, my battery was around 60%.... if there is a % that it will not install below.....
Charging up the battery now...

Which v10J did you use? Metro or Tmobile?

Since I'm on MetroPCS, and the guide supplied both, I used the MetroPCS.

Ok, just making sure.

Change your phone time to 11:30 pm and then check the system update center

There may be a small update before getting to Marshmallow

No other update is showing up after the time change.

Phone is working great on the 5.1.1. Later tonight if it doesn't install, I'll just re-root and twrp the 5.1.1 again.
Knowing my luck after I'd update to 6, I'd have a miserable time rooting. The guide looks involved... LOL

Turn wifi off and then turn wifi back on. See if that helps get the update notification

Thanks for taking the time to try to help....
I already tried that.

One other thought and not sure how to get around it..... when I hit the update center it brings up the system update downloaded message.
IIRC before I hit an update button and it would check for any updates.
If there was another update needed first, maybe it's not checking for it since the new OS is currently downloaded?

Only way I could think about getting around that would be to root again and find the downloaded OS and delete, (or rename it would be easier I guess, LOL) then check for an update. Only problem with that thought; was I thought I remembered reading somewhere the OS updates not being accessible.....

Yes. It counts down but doesn't reboot.

Hasn't finished what?
Downloading, installing? The download is 741.7 MB.
Phone never reboots. My screen is set to turn off after 2 minutes. I can let the phone sit there for 30 minutes after the screen goes off.
I tap the screen to get it to come on and after I unlock it, the Android Update screen is there but says restart and install again.
Thanks again for the help. Not sure what I'm missing.

Rooting and recovering the 5.1.1.

I wonder if you do a battery pull if it would work. Sometimes phones get "stuck" during the OTA process.

yeah i know that...could you tell me how i could get rid of the notification? im on katana if that matters

To get rid of the notification, long press the update, click information and then disable notifications.

(From a user in another forum who was also on Katana ROM)

Help!! I keep getting an error message when I try to update. I have done the 11:30 trick 3 times now but no matter what, I always get the error. I have 1.82 GB of space on my phone so it's not a memory issue. I am not rooted. What is going on?

Edit, crap. I reset the phone and now it's stuck on the metro pcs screen. What do I do now? Battery pull I guess. Ugh. Not fun having issues.

thats weird...when you long press the notification it says google play services...how is the ota related to google play services? i dont really want to disable notifications from google play services, so i guess i just have to see the notification til i decide to update

Someone else reported it so I have no idea what comes up. I'll find out exactly what he did and if he disabled GP services notifications

cool thanks...it has actually disappeared on its own now...im still curious how the notification info brings up google play services...

I just got the prompt to download marshmallow again. When I clicked on restart and install it counted down to about 5 and then told me my system was already up to date. I have 5.1.1. Why isn't my phone letting me update? The switching the time and date doesn't work for me anymore. I have tried 4 times to update and I either get the same error screen or it tells me I'm up to date.

Yes. I haven't messed with my phone. The battery is fully charged too. I haven't been able to get ahold of Metro Pcs for 2 days so I was hoping this forum could help.

wow so even a completely stock phone is having issues performing the update? i would probably try a factory reset but you might want to wait and see if someone else chimes in with an idea

Clear cache partition and reboot. If that doesn't help then do the Factory Reset.
