Mass Effect 3

How good is the first Mass Effect? It's finally on PS3, but only as part of the trilogy. I'm having a hard time paying $60 for the trilogy when I already have ME2, and ME3 is only $20 now. Worth the most just to play the first one?

If you're getting ME3 as well, I'd say yes. Maybe even trade in ME2, see if you get a decent price for it.

The way stuff you do in the first has an impact on what happens in the last game is a nice touch and I would say is worth it IMO. Not just the main story line, but wandering round the citadel and hearing NPC's talk about stuff you'd done all the way back in ME1 makes it a much more believable universe.

It's dated, but still a great game in its own right.

ME1 is a great game and as EP said, all the things you do in 1 has an impact on the other Mass Effects. ME1 and 2 are my favorites as I basically just play ME3 for the multiplayer anymore. A great series indeed. :)

ME2 is one of my favorite games. If I started over from the beginning that would be a big commitment lol. I'm hoping the price will drop some on the trilogy soon, that would make it an easier decision.

My friend bought me the Mass Effect trilogy this past Christmas for the PC. Until then, I knew nothing about Mass Effect.

Now... I'm just purely addicted. I've done 2 playthrough's already of the trilogy and starting the third one whenever I have free time from school

The storyline is so immersive and the fact that you can alter Shepard to be who YOU want to be. Haven't played a game with this awesome of a campaign ever. I haven't even touched multiplayer on ME3 yet.

It is a big commitment, but it is worth it, but I find it a little more so for the second than the third in my opinion. All Great games nonetheless. :)

I know right? Multiplayer I find it to be fun especially since there's tons of weapons to unlock and different character races and other things to get. Also, the multiplayer DLC is free on Xbox. :)

The story from the first one is great. But the gameplay/engine is pretty outdated by today's standards. It's a bit stiff and the graphics a tiny bit old looking.

But I still play it anyways. Just finished a run a month or two ago. I'm building up a new character for playing 3 with.

Wrex.

And I don't care what anyone says, I love the Mako

I remember trying to use the it the first time I played Mass Effect 1... I think half of my play time was just trying to steer the Mako and shoot at the same time without falling off the map.

Does anyone here think that the other two Mass Effects felt more tactical? In ME3 I find they rush you too often sometimes. Also, anyone have the Collector Adept yet? He's a pretty cool character.

I played the Collector Adept some, i found him awkward, but I didn't take the time to learn how to play him correctly.

My favorites were

- N7 Fury (holy explosions, explosions, everywhere)
- Batarian Soldier (named him "ScrewBlighty", heh)
- Drell Adept w/ Adrenaline mod 3 (like playing on crack)
- Asari Justicar
- Any infiltrator

oh god, now I want to play again. :) Are you guys on PC or ?

Oh, I'm on Xbox 360. In my opinion, I found the Asari Valkyrie to be better than the Fury because she has Tech Armor, Warp, and Annihilation field. If you have her or unlock her really give her a go. :)
The collector adept gets getting used to, but he's pretty good once you get him down. I'm doing the SMG mastery and now I have to do the Geth plasma SMG. N7 fury is a good character and I really like her too as well as the other characters you mentioned. :thumb:

I found the Fury to be a better glass cannon. Throw > warp as a detonator :)

Coolest dodge ever too.

It's too bad the position tracking code is so bugged though. Because of that the Fury would get hit mid dodge (because it was like a teleport ), whereas the Asari would not (because her slide dodge was actual 'movement' to the engine).

Still, the Asari was more durable and a bit more of a team player with warp as a primer. And probably has the better dodge just due to the bad position code. Probably better on Platinum.

But I heart the fury! So much carnage (unless the Geth showed up).

Yeah, the Fury is pretty good, but her dodge is bugged with a lot of other things with the game. The Collector Adept is nice, but I don't like his dodge sometimes because it can be so easy to over shoot something. I believe Bioware gave up on the ME3 multiplayer so no more updates for that. :(

Mass Effect 1.

Great story and characters.

Horrible Loading Times, Graphics, and Filler. All of the planets and buildings look the same. Throw on missions to add time to the game. Game would have been a great 20 hour game if they just cut out all of the bs.

Finally finished the last playthrough of ME2 and everyone survived the suicide mission.... Bout time, lol

So....... Finally took ME3 out of the plastic and started a game.

So far me likey

The trilogy is down to $40 at Gamestop now, might have to pick it up soon. Just starting all the way from the beginning is daunting. So much time...

Have you tried the Multiplayer yet? Or got any of the Add-ons?

I used teh code you need for multiplayer but haven't tried it yet. And all I had points for was Leviathon... but I will be getting all the content add-ons for sure... think there is 3 more (paid ones, already got the 2 free ones)

I've played through the second one, it's one of my favorite games of all time, but the older I get, the longer it seems to take to finish a game lol. Playing through all three is a serious time commitment.

I think that goes for any well made RPG (trilogy or otherwise). :D:):p

It's honestly worth it. I've said it before, but seeing your character progress and having stuff you've done in the first game have an impact on what goes on in the final battle in the 3rd is amazing.

I'm coming to the end of my fourth playthrough now, this time with an Adept - I <3 biosplosions! :D

I couldn't face repeating ME1 yet again though, so I modified one of my savegames to suit how I wanted his character to be e.g. no romance (I wanted to see how a relationship with Jack turned out), more "end justifies the means" by bumping off several NPCs rather than allowing them to live etc. The subtle alterations to the plotline are very interesting.

I may have to replay it though, as (a) I didn't do enough to keep Chambers around for ME3 so she ran off with my fish and (b) I forgot to chat to Conrad and hear all his in-jokes about the game. :(
