Root May have Screwed up someones DI

Well since this thread is formally hijacked by the OP, what the heck. I returned my leaked Eris early on and got a clean hboot one. I then gave it to my daughter right away since I pulled an upgrade from one of my 4 accounts and got the DI. My son had an Eris from the get go and never even accepted the OTA, stayed on 1.5!

To make a long story short, I got them both a DI last month and I now have 2 rooted Erises which I use to play around with and keep in case something happens to any of the 3 DI's we now have. They work acceptably with OC at around 768, although I find it harder and harder to turn them on these days.

As you say, the good ol' days of Frisco, Caddy and OTD.

haha yep , good times in the Eris forums forsure . I was over there not too long ago and Frisco now seems to be fully into the rooting scene after not even wanting to go away from 1.5

I know! I was there the morning after he rooted and no one could believe it. I had to wait a week from that point until my DI arrived and I got my first backup Eris to root. But I did follow along for a while after I rooted. Flashed a bunch of them, then stuck them in the drawer. I might break them out again one day after this wears off a bit. But the Roms and Kernals are flying out here and it might be a while.

You need to have the 2.6.32 kernal running with the new 2.2 builds. I don't believe that hydra has one released for that. Stick with .32 and you shouldn't have any issues. SR runs like a champ with it (and 2.15 radio)

just sayin....the eris has come a long way since you all have been over there. we got shit crackin now :D

one of these days ill join you all over here, but i just havent been able to get the cash yet. seems like things are a LOT different over here, gonna take some getting used to :P

Dude!! Nice to see you. How is everyone? Premium too? ;) I must tell you, without you guys I probably wouldn't have rooted my DI so quickly or easily. I still have both of my Erises btw, can't get myself to put them up for sale. I need to get over there soon just to check in, break Frisco's balls a bit. It's really not that much different here, just not the usual suspects.

I'll fire up the ol' reliable and head on over soon. Regards to all.

I've never had an android phone (or any smartphone) before I got my incredible at the beginning of May. I am curious how this is different from that way things are over in the eris forums. Maybe I should go look?... but I don't have an eris so...

i mean the way things are done.
for example we use amon_ra's recovery which is VERY different from clockwork, we dont use rom manager at all really, kernels arent really all that big of a deal, all of them are overclocked etc.

also our rooting methods are different. i havent kept up on the unrevoked method, so idk how much has chaged, but last time i checked you still didnt have a NAND unlock over here. so just slight differences that kinda change up the way things work

thanks BJ, its nice to be recognized ;)

ive thought about selling my eris too, but idk if i could. its an awesome starter phone, it was the first smart phone i got and its the reason i got into linux and android.

Hydra has .32 kernels, I'm running one now.

Ohh god the Eris lol. That thing was almost unusable and everythign I tried to do to make it faster made it worse lol

I never got to root cause Ijumped on the Leaked 2.1, but a friend of mine is upgrading from his Eris (which has a shattered screen but works fine) and I'm offering him a 30pack of stones for it so I can tinker with another phone that doesn't matter if Ibrick it to learn more about android etc.. Plus I can use it as an extra charger, backup phone etc...

The Incredible almost doesn't even need to be tinkered with it with just a basic 2.2 rom is an amazing device

I used to be in the Eris scene as well, they FINALLY found a way to root it for the leakers!!! I still kind of miss my old Eris, I never got to experience what having root on it was like... I sold it rooted to a friend of mine and let him experiment with it. But lord nothing can take this Incredible from me, it's full of awesome.
