maybe gettins an s2

Hey guys i got the transform ultra pimped out with cwm and megatron rom which i love but i was thinking of moving up to something there was CyanogenMod possibitlty for. thing is i use foxfi tether often for the kids ipods and like having root access not sure how far along this phone has came since its new. i was wanting your opinions posted in the rooted section cause you guys are probably doing all the stuff i would normally do. so how do you like it ? are there custom roms , root and cwm ? anyone that came to the s2 from an modded ultra opion would be great its either this or an iphone 4s on virgin mobile not wanting to jump ship love android just wanting to here what you guys think of this phone. thanks in advance for any input.
 
Yes this phone has plenty of ROMs available. This phone is the same phone as the Epic 4g Touch, and as such there have been ROMs (including CM) available for a while. I currently am running one of the new Jelly Bean ones. Recovery options vary as it has to be packaged with the kernel, but yes we have CWM available as well as the AGAT recovery (based of of CWM).



I am very happy with this phone. It has a nice display, plenty of processing power, and a good amount of memory even without adding in a SDcard to it
 
hell with an iphone anything. They can have their fun paying for every little thing while we can do so much more on android

Lol yeah hotspot works on all roms even stock rooted. And this phone is only new to boost. We have a crazy amount of roms and development on xda under epic 4g touch. You can flash any rom there. Its the same exact phone.

We have cm9 and cm10 and 10.1 and Paranoid android. And many ics and jellybean based roms to choose from

Before I bought mine I didn't realize that ANY rom working on Sprint for this phone would work on the Boost flavor as the guys said above. Once I realized that I was sold and decided to pull the trigger for sure.

Not only lots of roms, but a large support community, lots of accessories, etc. You'll be happy with it.
 
cool got it for 292 shipped next day so should have it Monday. i had a coupon code for boost mobile i grabbed all the files in the root sticky getting the PC ready for the phone.
 
Will do man thanks. I have rooted a sammsung intercept ,zte warp and transform ultr but as each is a little different I'm sure ill have questions. First time with odin to :):):)

LMAO! I bought mines the day it dropped on Boost also, I couldn't wait! Sad thing is I am going to get an S4.I hope boost can activate it, if not I'm going to try out Sprints new no contract plan, but I think I will get screwed and they tell me it's not included in their no contract plan, and boost will tell me they can't activate it....

Only time will tell, my ultimate goal is to get all the S series and learn more on mods and themes I can make for them. I love the fact you can make android do what you want it to do..... Just have to study more.
 
Yup study learn try.back on the warp i started to attempt to make a rom. That shit takes allot of work!! I know what you mean though. Anything is possible on android.

You wouldn't happen to remember where you seen the things that can be done With the feature xml file? I'm interested in that
 
so no one has posted roms over here they have loaded and given credit to designers i am lookin on the other site xda and its really hard to find what i can and cant flash. do they not have a galaxy s2 section ? trying to go ahead and get some roms downloaded in anticipation of the phone also lookin for the hardware model of this phone searching for extended batterys and such.
 
Its not listed as the galaxy s2.. Its listed as the epic 4g touch. You can use any ROM they have. I posted a link for u last night. Both are links to ROMs.

When I get a chance I will make a ROM thread. :). I suggest getting tapatalk or phandroid forum app. They make your forum experience from the phone a breeze. Since you just save the phone under favorites and have the threads your looking for with the push of a button

We have several posts with links to ROMs here. On xda just go to the section for the Sprint Epic 4g Touch. It is the exact same phone.
 
ok looking a the roms now thanks guys kinda different cause it dont say boost mobile sg2 lol im reading and watching videos now.

Yea we all felt the same way when the phone first came out.. Ignore that I have galaxy note there. That was me helping a friend

yeah they have Sprint labeling on the ROMs but will work just fine as Boost is on the Sprint network.
