Help Media scanner problem?

Hello fellas

Im here to explain my situation and looking forward to receive some answers from guys with more experience on androids.

So here we go. Ive got my new Samsung Galaxy Nexus and looks like this shit won't show up a Media folder in the menu, which normally includes subfolders such as Music, Photos and shit like this. Im sure you got it. Must be an issue with Media Scanner, isnt it? How do I fix this?

Also, Ive had that Google Search bar on the homescreen but I did remove it in some way and want it back now. Have you got any tips? Should be downloaded from the store? Whats app name? DONE: installed the app again.

I previously run a Samsung Galaxy S but Im not the kind of guy who seeks for performance/amazing shit; If the internet, voice calling, sms work Im good with that.

Thanks in advance and have a nice day.

Oke one little specification.

I downloaded an app from the store called ASTRO file manager and using this app it shows folders such as Music, Photos, Videos, having address on sdcard but simply doesnt show up in the phone menu.

Okay so everyone but me is getting answers to their questions. THATS A BIG PLUS to forum!

Cool thing! KEEP IT UP; ignoring threads.

bye.

Generally people will reply to help threads if they know how to help. If not, they skip it and move on to another thread where they can assist.

Look on the Google Play store for a media scanner app, install it and run it. That should force a rescan of all of your media. They should then show up for you.

Also be sure to try the forums search feature. There's literally tons of threads already about media files disappearing or not showing up.

Tried all this but it will just wont work out.

Have you got any other ideas which I might try?

Btw, phone is not rooted.

For my own clarification to make sure I'm understanding... when you say "won't show up in the menu", which menu are you referring to? The menu in the Gallery app? Try to be as specific as possible so we can better try to help you.

Hmmm. Gallery seems to be alright; I mean it shows some pics which I might have downloaded or whatever.

What bothers me is that I do not have any folder in the menu (by pressing the MENU BUTTON down in center of the display. Shouldn't there be a folder with something like Files or anything like this?

I mean, I down. some file manager apps and it reads things from my sdcard (which appraently is not shown without this app). When I use the app. it shows me folders such as Videos, Music etc. Understood now ?

My english is not great; not a native but I think I can make myself clear.

Any tips?

I think you are looking for some kind of built-in file manager. There is none. There is nothing in stock native android that will allow you to browse/search through all of the file structure of the phone. There are a million apps you can download that will let you do so. I use estrongs file explorer and Astro file manager. Both will let you explorer everything but the root system files (since you aren't rooted). Mostly, what you will want to look at is the SDcard as that is where most of your saved files, downloads and transferred files will be located.

The MENU button, assuming you mean the white dots in the circle, is not actually a MENU button. It opens your app drawer which contains all of your installed apps both native and downloaded. If you already installed Astro, that should appear in your App drawer and you can also create a shortcut on a homescreen for it as well. But again, there is no stock file explorer like you would find in a Windows PC.

OK. So, assuming that I do not use any file manager app I wouldn't be allowed to access my media files, other than pics because for pics I have the gallery. Now I ask you, is that normal?
