Help Media Volume - too low

I am probably missing something blatantly obvious. However, volume at max for listening to music and its just not that loud. Is there any way to crank it up?
 
Not really I'm afraid. I heard something about a work around but you have to root the phone as far as I know.
 
With or without the headphones?

Mines really loud with the headphones, granted it could be louder without the headphones.
 
Mine is really loud with the headphones aswell (and abit too loud for the internal speaker without em! always afraid they get damaged)

Puts out a higher volume through the headphonejack than any ipod i ever used. I notice the difference when i plug it into my car stereo. I always have to turn the volume of the stereo up when the ipod is connected. Never when my desire is playing
 
Mine is pathetic as well. To the extent that when I am travelling in the tube and the volume is set at max, I hear the tube's rumble more than I hear the song that is playing on my phone.

Read somewhere that all t-mobile desires have this issue.
 
My media volume is shockingly low at Max. I have all the relevant volumes at max and its too pathetic to sit in a car with the engine off and listen to a film during the nightshift, which is ludicrous from a
 
The first thing I noticed is how low/poor quality the speaker is. I cannot use it with my tomtom 730 as you cannot hear the caller, it's even too quiet if you stop the vehicle by the side of the road because of other vehicles wind noise. My old XDA Orbit 2 from HTC was the opposite.

I have reported this to HTC, has anyone else? It's no good telling the forum we have to tell HTC.
 
For me, its mainly the headphones volume. Fine if your in a quiet place, but as soon as there is other noise e.g.on a bus, in a crowd etc its not great. Additionally, the quality with the actual phone speaker is shockingly bad, the worst i have ever come across, no base to speak of, as soon as your crank it up past halfway it distorts. I came from a Blackberry Bold and the quality with that was phenominally good. Love the phone but the speaker and media vol are my 2 gripes.
 
Yes, the speaker quality is poor but listening on a good pair of earphones gives a much better sound for music and calls.

I've no probs hearing music with my Ultimate ears earbuds. Of course that's no help if you want to share a movie....

Would an equaliser program help the sound through the loudspeaker or is it just a hardware problem?
 
I also use Ultimate Ears and even when in the gym with people running on treadmills and all kinds of other noise pollution, I can hear just fine. World of difference to the supplied headphones. Bought mine on Play on offer at moment for
 
The external speaker is really really poor. Very quite and rubbish quality imo.

A real shame as for me it is a big let down since I wanted to use it for sat nav and loudspeaker calls when driving.
 
Biggest disappointment for me is the low media volume, from both the speaker and headphones. I have debranded my handset to remove the t-mobile firmware but its still very very low.
 
Just to repat what I said yesterday.
Call HTC customer services a tell them! its ok reporting on the forum but we need more people calling the manufacturer to get something actioned
 
Incidentally, using a very good quality pair of headphones, no issue with any other device. Have sent an issue report to HTC - will wait and see what they say.
 
Hi all,

I just purchased the HTC Droid Eris and though I am still getting acquainted with the phone, I already see there is a major problem with the Media Volume on this device. I am trying to use the music player and can't hardly hear the music using stereo headphones. I have the Media Volume set to maximum. I have written to HTC about this as one post suggested. But as another person wrote, it doesn't look like HTC has checked the thread as there is not one response.

Has anyone figured out a way to fix this?

Been having emails back and forth with HTC this week. Not entirely helpful - was asked to test the volume of installed ringtones and music to see if there the same. Been told to do a master reset, which I've done, again, no better. After that, I now have to phone them to discuss further.
 
Guys I think I know what the problem is but will need some help from other member to verify my theory!

Cutting a long story short, my Sony earphones were fantastic on my Hero and terrible on my Desire, heck even the standard
 
With headphones in, the desire is loud for me, never need to put the volume up full.

Without headphones (ie speaker) a tad quiet but no different to other phones i've used, still decent enough to watch movies/tv in a quiet room
 
With my ear plugs, the lowest volume setting is loud enough - in fact it a bit louder than I would prefer.
