Memory card for Galaxy SII

oly730

Newbie
While awaiting Samsung Galaxy SII being launched, I would like to be prepared by buying 32 GB SDHC memory card for it.

But I am confused; the highest class available is class 10. And I read in some web sites/forums it is said not all class 10 will compatible to smart phone. Secondly, class 10 is needed for transferring big files in sequential like camera and not for random seek as a smart phone. Is this true?

Thirdly, for the SDHC memory card what highest class should I buy (either class 4, 6 or 10) to enable me to have the fastest access and saving.

Please do help me clarifying the above issue.

Thanks a lot pals.

Welcome to Android Forums!

Don't get hung up on the SDHC "class" thing; all it does is stipulate a guaranteed minimum write speed. Quality cards from well-known manufacturers are quite capable of exceeding their nominal "speed class", so choose the capacity you need first within your budget then look at class rating. Further info on SD speed classes can be found here.

Also, the highest rating you will need is for recording HD video and the SDHC Association guidance is that class 6 is easily enough for this.

Don't waste your money buying something that is faster than you could ever need or would ever notice.

Thanks for the info guys. I was going to ask all this before going on hols (wanted to fill a card with movies and music).
