Congratulations on finding root:D:D:D:D

You do have the market, correct? If so, just download the apps from the market

Yep. Got the market. I just tried installing HTC Sense 3.0.

All goes well until I install zip from sdcard. I click it and it
doesn't install the rom. It just goes back to the menu.

Thanks,
Gary

What recovery do you have? Not sure why it wouldn't install:confused:

Hey guys and gals.

I'm currently running CM7.1

I just tried installing HTC Sense 3.0 on my
Hero.

Everything goes well until I install zip from
sdcard.

I click install zip from sdcard... it acts as though
its gonna install but flips back to the menu screen
instead.

Any help?

Thanks,
Gary

I don't have a Hero anymore, but have you tried downloading the file again, to rule out a bad download. Also are you doing a full wipe, which is what I suggest you do, also here is a video on the HERO with Sense 3.0 I thought you would like

Recovery??

Recovery is kind of like your computer's BIOS. It lets your perform basic functions before you fully boot up the handset.

In the case of Android, the recovery lets you wipe your handset, flash ROMs, kernels and other things, and make Nandroid backups among other things. The Sprint HTC Hero uses either Amon RA Recovery or ClockworkMod Recovery.

Oh... I use Clockwork Mod.... Still can't get HTC Sense 3.0 to install.

Once I click install zip file from sdcard it starts to install but ends
up flipping back to the green option screen.

Thanks for the help.

Hi cleared the sdcard. I tried download 3.5 from the first link and got
a 404 error. The mirror site download worked fine.

Does it matter it there is spaces between the file name?

Will try installing this one...

Thanks for the help.

Gary

No it does not

I would again, either format the SD card as LB mentioned, but transfer your files to your desktop first. Then format and transfer your files back, also make sure the recovery image is flashed property and it says that it was flashed properly. Then I would do a full wipe once in recovery and make sure your ROM file is on the root of your SD card, then try flashing it again and report back

I also merged your 2 threads together since they are both relevant to the same issue, will make it easier to monitor ;)

Give it a bit and see, remember the Hero is not really equipped to handle that much, also check your internal memory to see what you have left

Ok... the install of 3.5 worked but WOW is my hero sluggish and slow.

Will this work itself out??

Thanks,
Gary

It seems to be working itself out... I have 123MB of internal storage left.

Can I put my apps on the sdcard?? If so.. how?

Thanks for the help.

Gary

Yes, try an app from the market called, Apps2SD

Android 2.2+ can natively move some apps to the microSD card. If you go into Apps Management you can see which ones are able to be moved to the microSD card and press the button to move them.

Another way is to partition your microSD card so that it is basically an extension of your handset's internal memory. This makes it look like there is more space, but the apps are actually being stored on your microSD card which allows for more to be installed at once.

Thanks for the help.

There are like 4 apps2sd in the market.

Any one better than the other?

thanks,
Gary

Do you have your sdcard partitioned? Using roms like this might help if you partition your sdcard. Then you can move data and cache over to the sd-ext. You'll then be able to run Darktremors a2sd.

Also, you can try the V6 Supercharger on the hero, it does speed this rom up a little bit.

Thanks DonB.

I supposedly partitioned the sdcard with ROM Manager.

I have no idea what V6 Supercharger is... LOL

Thanks for all the help.
