I downloaded and ran the update.zip file, everything looked good. I then downloaded SU but the apps list stays empty, so I read where you suggested ES file explorer so I downloaded it. I get to where I get a delete option on say the alarm app but it keeps telling me can not be deleted. I have tried it on a few from the "safe to delete" list with same results. Is this a sign that the rooting failed? Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

Added- Net10 ZTE merit, bought NIB 2 weeks ago, if info helps.
 
thanks stayboogy spent 17hours of net surfing reading on how to remove stock apps from my merit found your post on forums watched the vidio did the download and literally 5 minutes later it was rooted and all the junk i didnt need was gone. the differance is like night and day and it works flawlessly.thanks again
 
when i tryed on my phone same reault download incomplete over and over couldnt figure it out either then later that day i had found an app to turn my phone into a wifi hot spot so just screwing around with that and my daughters tablet i tried downloading it on the tablet.when that worked i just saved it to an empty sd card and pur that in my phone.root been working great.hopefully helps juat download and transfer.

well im trying on my merit like the post says to do...and it just doesnt work..and i dont have a different way to do it other then my pc...does any one know y it wont download on my merit i have unknown sources checked so??????

I cannot reboot my ZTE Z990G into recovery mode. No matter how many times I try holding down the Menu/Volume up/Power buttons to turn on/boot up the only thing that happens is the phone turning on. No recovery menu pops up. Never.

So, now what? Help please.
 
Hey stayboogy. I'm just having a little problem. Could you help me out real quick? When I click the link to go download the update.zip, it takes me there and then I click the button to download, it says "starting download" and then the notification says "download unsuccessful". I click the button again to fix the download and it takes me to that page and then takes me back, and thr download isn't fixed.

Ok,now I have a new problem. I put the file in the SD card, and turned the phone off. Went into recovery mode, and I hit factory reset or whatever. It said a bunch of stuff, with "Installation Aborted at the bottom.

?????

Do I have to NOT have a SIM card?
 
Your sims card shoudnt matter in or out becuase your just rooting the phone.what does matter is 1you download update zip on a computrr or tablet,something besides phone.2that you transfer to root of sd card nowhere else.3 that it is named update.zip which it should already be if you downloaded from here.4pay attention to what you press(or whatever?)seems these are the 3 most comon failures when using this method,all of which are user errors.(just follw the video)
 

Need some help on the beginning, i have no idea where to put the update.zip ,please be more specific,
I read Most of the replies, and they. said put it in root, but when im putting it there, of coarse,i cant put it bcause i have to root it to acces it. I tried installing it by "install from sdcard0" but it keeps abborting. I even tried wipe data/ reset factory but i dont know wich one to pick , theres alot of No, and one is "yes, reset factory"( i have no idea what exactly its called, i keep forgetting). Ive tried everything and to recap, be more specific where to put the file, im not beimg bossy or annoying, im just stressed out bcause i reaaaally wanna root my phone... Id be very glad of u help

Dont see whats so hard about this that everybody has so much trouble the root of the sd card is the main file list of the sd card.the first set of files you see when you open the sd card.dondont

I cant get this to work for my Galaxy Tab 3 lite SM-T110. Ive used this method f rooting with my GT-S6800 and it worked fine. But i just cant root this device. This thing jus does not want o be rooted, ive tried everything from computer rooting to this, it just does not work for me. Maybe im doing something wrong? maybe but i dont know what to do anymore. Does anyone have some tips for me please. Any settings i should change?? Im workin on the 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Please, i already have the root zip file.

Hello I was wondering if you could help us get root on the ZTE ZMAX stayboogy it has the same recovery options as the Merit does and I think this might be the way to achieve root on the device.

I can give it a shot. get me a stock pull of the boot.img and recovery.img, upload, and post a link. also if there is an official update for the device download it and mirror it to mediafire and post the link.

after that is done we will go from there
