Messed Up Screen

Ok, I did something really stupid and regretful to my Prevail's screen. I know I'm gonna get some heat on here for doing what I did lol

Anyway, I had bought a pack of screen protectors and I kinda modified the installation instructions. I noticed how some other users said they used protectors that called for a few drops of water to make it easier to get the air bubbles out.

Well, I decided to use rubbing alcohol instead water thinking it would dry faster. Now the instructions on this set of protectors doesn't call for drops of water. Well about an hour after applying the protector I noticed what looked like something that was crystallizing on my screen.

I thought nothing about it and the next day it grew bigger. So I took it off and a chemical reaction between the alcohol and adhesive on the protector ate through the screen! It looked like super glue on plastic. So at this point I'm in panic mode and start to scratch off the build up on my screen and got most of the stuff off but now I got blemishes on my screen.

What I'm asking is does anyone know a way to buff out the remaining imperfection? Kinda like how people get those yellow headlights on their cars and then use a buffer to get it off. Or some kind of solvent to fill in the scratches?

It's not too bad, at least when the screen lights up I can barely see the scratches and blemishes. If push comes to shove I'll invest in another Prevail at the end of the year or hopefully Boost will churn out another Android phone by then.

Get a product called meguires plastic X it is the stuff used to buff the plastic lens on headlights as you mentioned. if you have one of those power ball things, they attach to a drill and buff and clean quickly. Other wise do it the old fashioned way lots of elbow grease. use just a tiny drop, small screen does not need much and too much will just cause it to look messy.
Follow the directions on the product.

Hmm might give it a try, hope it doesn't get worse :p Thanks.

I agree with new optimus. Your best bet at this point is to try something that polish/cleans plastic. Mothers makes the best one I have tried. Use a little bit before blasting the whole thing. If it doesn't work than your probably out of luck....

ya what those products do is fill in the scratches. Hopefully your screens scratches are tiny, the only other thing I would suggest, and this is a last ditch effort, just before your ready to buy a new phone cuz if it dont work it would suck.

Use ultrafine 2000grit sandpaper and try to sand it smooth, then use the polish.

Yea, my phone's touch screen has now become unresponsive before I could fix the scratches. Don't know what happened. *sighs*

This is the screen protector I used:
Samsung Galaxy Prevail Screen Protector | Clear Protector

It works great and covered up the existing light scratches I had on it and its got a lifetime warranty. I bought mine on ebay for $4 cheaper though.

Heres how I installed it:

I took a small cereal bowl and filled it up with water and put 1 drop of Johnsons & Johnsons baby soap in there.

I stirred it up til it looked like the soap was evenly distributed.

I got my fingers wet with the soapy solution then dipped the whole protector in the bowl. I shook off the excess and positioned it.

I held it in place with 1 finger while I used a credit card to smooth it out and remove any excess water.

I let it sit for like an hour and I used it lightly. There was some little rainbow spots on the screen. I am guessing from excess water or soap but they had disappeared over night. I can't even tell its on there and its on there pretty solid. I have it in and out of my pocket all day and its not starting to peel.
