Metal bar at top hurt anyone elses ear?

The metal bar at the top of the speaker hurts my ear when I talk on my phone. Its mostly when I have to press the phone against my ear like if some talks quietly and the volume is all the way up. I fixed this by putting a case on my phone but I have an extended battery and door on the way so I won't be able to use my case anymore. My question is does this bother anyone else and is there any way I can fix this?

Yes, it bothers me too. Like you said, only when you press it against your ear. Tried the case (it helps with this issue), been going naked and don't want to go back to the case just for this. No other options that I know of. Guess it's the price I pay for the privilege of using this awesome phone!

Bugs me too, but the more annoying issue for me is that since the speaker grill is recessed, it's just a dust magnet!! Crap keeps going in there and there's no way to get it out without pushing it through the grill. I said this once before, but I wish someone would come out with a red speaker grill (the one from the prototypes) that would fit into that space & make the grill plush with the screen. That would be awesome!

The part that sticks out that's just above the speaker. I thought it was metal maybe its plastic. I have a case on so I can't see it.

yeah, no metal on my phone either :p

never noticed, I try not to talk on the phone for more then a minute or two. never been a big phone talker and its not needed for my job so...

Not to nit-pick here or anything, but if you're phone's 100% plastic... it wouldn't be much of a phone.... might even have worse antenna problems than an iPhone

:)

yep!!

and hate to burst yalls bubbles, but the shiny part that goes all around the phone.. the part that hurts my ear as well, is METAL.
you can tell by the density when you tap it with your nail. its not an entire plastic case.

You can use Bluetooth, a cheap headset, or the speaker when making voice calls. However, I've noticed that when I put my ear closer to the right side of the grill the audio is louder. Not sure if that's a defect, but I no longer have to press the phone to my ear.

what? do you guys have elf ears or something?

That's what I'm thinking. My speaker grill is recessed below the edge of the phone, actually it's below the screen.

I would have to press the phone and dig pretty hard to have my ear touch the speaker grill.

How about telling the friends to speak up?

I don't know about you guys, but I have MANS EARS! it doesn't hurt my wittle ear at all. are you pressing to hard? I've seen people that press it against there ear so hard it leaves an imprint for a period of time after a call.

at the risk of sounding like Steve Jobs, maybe you're holding it wrong.

Yeah i'm on the phone all the time and never once felt any discomfort. I was pretty surprised to see that many posters agree with the OP. And I'm pretty sure the top of the phone is plastic because I have that tiny crack/fault line near my power button and I don't think that would happen to metal.

I have never even thought about the possibility of that piece hurting my ear. You guys must staple the phone to your skulls or something. I use a bluetooth headset maybe 95% of the time, but the 5% I do use my phone, I never have to mash it on my face as if i'm killing a fly or something.

Wow!!! I swear I was shocked to see others agreeing with the OP. The top piece they are referring to does not protrude from the screen. I just took my phone from the case and mashed it to my ear and simulated a 5 min. Call and felt no discomfort.
