Root MetaMorph Themes

You mean this?

But will that get me back to stock theme as in what you have on an OEM unrooted Droid, or stock theme as in what comes with Bugless Beast (looks like Smoked Glass, but maybe Pete did some modifications to it)?

anyone care to elaborate on the "tricks" to installing metamorph? It keeps telling me that some files could not be extracted and installed, and that to make sure I have enough space in /system and that busybox is installed. An considering I am using Droid Root Pro and BB I should def have busybox installed. Any ideas?

this happened the first time i tried to use metamorph too. i went back into droid root pro and re-installed busybox and it worked afterwards. give that a shot

Tried that, didn't work. Here are the steps I did in DRP:

Mount
Install Busybox
Unmount
Sync
Reboot

You need to chmod busybox.. although I do not know how to do this in DRP..

Yeah I don't see anything in DRP about chmod busybox, the only chmod I see says:

"Install and chmod smali, backsmali, and deodexerant (busybox must be installed and chmodded first"

I tried adding that option into my steps listed before and MM still won't open

I give up, apparently I've lost root too so I have no clue, still have the SU Icon but when I go into terminal i get su "permission denied"

I got a copy of Dark Minimalism through a friend and it is the hotness, still has some pretty ugly bugs though. I am also using Elegant, great minds think alike ;). Why didn't your icons change with it though? Phone Gmail Messaging and some others should all have changed.

I didn't like the look of the icons next to the other icons. The only there thing I don't like is thee bugging in the notification bar when it's pulled down. Its got weird transparency bugs and the date is in black.
Im going to try Reiven.

you most likely lost root, what version of BB are you running? some users lost root with the 0.7.8 and 0.7.9 versions i think.

Yup. I was running 0.7.8 and couldn't get busybox installed. I even tried to re-root to no avail. Upgraded to 1.1, now it's just fine, busybox installed from DRP no problem, no manual chmod necessary.

On an unrelated note, I'm really liking 24k special edition. I was skeptical about how much I would like the gold, but it's actually really nice. The transparent widgets sealed the deal for me. My only gripe is the battery indicator steps down in multiples of 20 instead of 10.

The battery indicator does bug me too because I have a battery widget that reads every ten percent :(

Likewise, but I never really have to worry about battery life anyway.

And it sure does look purdy

is there a way to make the icons not be gold, I like the cold but it looks weird when almost half my icons are gold and the other half stock :(

From the thread at AD:

This is Dark Special Edition 10k and 24k. 10k is presented as an update.zip and should be installed first (Recovery image 99.2b or later is needed). 24k will theme almost every system icon a beautiful gold (Metamorph app from market is needed)

So if you just install the update.zip, I believe you should retain your stock icons. I can't remember if any of them were changed before I metamorphed. In any case, the update.zip is super easy to install so it's probably worth a shot.

so apparently i have a market version of facebook so i cannot get a skin to apply to it. i have seen posts about moving it to system/app to get it working but does anyone have some dumb down instructions on how to get this done?

thanx,

thanx,

Download "Root Explorer".

Go into the /data/app directory, select the facebook apk (com.facebook.katana ?), and copy it.

Navigate to the /system/app directory, select Mount R/W at the top, paste that apk into the directory, and rename it "Facebook.apk". Exactly like that, including the capital F.
Make sure to select that same button again at the top, but now it says Mount R/O.

You could do the exact same thing with ADP or a Terminal emulator, it's really just preference if you prefer GUI to command line.
Me, I'm spoiled and would rather avoid command line. Especially Linux command line, been forever since I used Linux command line on a computer, so learning it all over it again for a phone wouldn't be hard but imho, if everything can be accomplished in a GUI, is there a point? You just have to understand everything you are doing. It's too easy to copy word for word what people say online and go into a terminal emulator and successfully complete a task and yet not understand a thing they just did.
Though command line prompts do generally scare a lot of people away.

After that, Metamorph will apply themes without a problem. Sometimes you might need to remove the widget or in general just wait a little for it to refresh, but the theme should be there and work (unless of course there is a known problem with that specific theme).
Of course, if the market version is updated, you might need to repeat that process.

Some places have said the market version needs to be uninstalled after it is pushed to the /system dir, but... that just made things painful on my end, without the ability to select a widget. Reinstalled facebook, then applied theme, worked for me.

Ugh I've been in one rough daze for the past few days (including when I applied the theme).
After whatever method you use to copy the apk into the /system/app dir, uninstall facebook from the market. Then apparently reinstall it, I think. Maybe someone can clear this up.
I just know it says it is installed in the market, but I have no trace of anything facebook in /data/app, when it was there when I started this myself.
