Methods to speed up LG G3?

I am impressed nobody had yet posted that their G3 is already lightening fast and results in the distortion of time. :)

Most fanboys are probably catching up on Comic Con on the Internet ;) Wait, I do that too....

What are you finding that's not fast enough for your phone? One of the easiest things you can do is turn off animations in settings. That will help from any perceivable lag coming from opening/closing apps.
 
I found that enabling developer option and turning off animations and forcing gpu rendering will speed transitions up tremendously.

Seems a bit extreme to disable temperature throttling to fix a stutter or two. Just my two cents on the subject.

My homescreens were okay but the app drawer was kind of driving me crazy after awhile. LG just needs to fine tune their launcher a little bit and get rid of that lag. Switched over to Nova and it is now a totally fluid device.
 
I didn't notice any lag with the stock launcher, but switched to Nova because I've been using it for some time and find it superior to every stock launcher I've used.
 
I had been using the Google Now launcher on my DNA for awhile and I hadn't switched in months. I was using Nova on my Nexus 7 but hadn't looked at any new features...Nova has been busy updating a lot of little things. Android L app animations look good.

The stock launcher wasn't bad but the app drawer would stutter every time you opened it and swiped screens for the first time. Normally that wouldn't bug me but EVERYTHING else on this phone is fluid. Typing this right now...makes me realize how great LG 's keyboard is. Best android keyboard ever and will improve if they update it to allow resizing it in landscape view.
 
I have to agree with the keyboard. I was a Swiftkey maniac, but I really prefer this. The auto correct is great, the top row numbers are awesome, and the swiping is handy. Love it.

Not to hijack the thread, but I do miss the predictions from SwiftKey.

I put swiftkey on the G3 as well and tested them both out...but swiftkey is not as smooth or as responsive as LG's. They nailed the keyboard for sure.
 
I feel like it's learning me and they're getting quite good. It's taking longer than Swiftkey, but getting there. I also find that I type differently. I used to be constantly looking at the predictions, now I just hammer out the words and hit space and trust the autocorrect. If a long word, I still wander back up top. I'm finding it at least as fast.

As for speed, I'm just not having an issue. It sometimes takes an extra .1 seconds to repaint the wallpaper, and if you're the sort of person that gets bothered by that, I can see how it would drive you nuts. It just doesn't affect me in the slightest. It also doesn't reset itself mysteriously 3x a day like my Sammy S4.
 
Hmm. I paid for Swiftkey, so I made the swap almost right away. I think I have to give the LG keyboard another chance.
 
I didn't have a problem with anything but the app drawer. I think that's why it bugged me...the home screens were fine but the app drawer stuttered...the app drawer? Haha...everyone has their hangouts and I can admit...that's a silly one LOL!

And YES...you need to try the LG keyboard. Its "iPhone responsive" and it's the first time I have ever had that on an android phone! Apple has always gotten that right and now FINALLY someone else has.

Not a great comparison for me. In my experience, the iPhone Keyboard is awful..at least compared to modern keyboards like Swiftkey. When my kids had touches, having to use that keyboard made me want to chuck the thing against a wall.

I'm still trying the LG keyboard though! :p
 
I also had the app drawer.skip bug thing.. It annoyed then hell bout of me, went to go.launcher first, then settles.on dodol.. Rediculously smooth.. Why can't LG get.the same fluidity?

With the attention to detail LG has used throughout this phone...the launcher and app drawer stutters baffled me. It seems very streamlined and not overly bloated so it makes no sense. Its not a huge problem so I don't mean to blow it out of proportion but OCD people like myself may take issue LOL
 
Okay, this may be a silly question, but what do the animation settings do? I noticed several animation options and set each to off. Besides the reduced lag time, what changes will I notice?

It's mostly transitions between apps and open windows, like slide up, fade in , that sort of stuff.

I couldn't disagree more. The iphone keyboards, as small as they are in comparison, to me, are a thousand times more accurate for some odd reason, than any Android I have ever used. To me it is actually the one thing that IOS does better. Not sure why.

Turn the animations on and set them higher...like 2x or 10x if you want. You'll see how they affect the animations when opening or closing apps, jumping into different menus, etc. I like animations and either set them to 1x or .5x. If you want the phone to feel faster, you turn them off and it seems to jump from one app to another quicker but it really doesn't change anything. Apps don't open faster...they just appear to open faster.

To each his own.

I gave the lg keyboard a try, but I'm back to SwiftKey. They're more similar than different but I find SwiftKey far more accurate. Probably due to my several years of SwiftKey use, but the LG was frustrating me.
 
I'm getting used to the LG keyboard very quickly. But I have always used Swype on my android devices.

On my Apple devices there isn't a choice. At least not until iOS 8 is launched and there is assign iOS version of Swype released.
