OK, I got one for you guys here that really know your phones.

Show us some of the professional phone geek sheet. :D

Tell us your top 3 choices of BYOD services from the list.

Please? ;)
Bruce in Ocala, Fl

These ain't all on the list.

1) Samsung Galaxy S4 (can't decide between regular or Nexus)

2) HTC One (definitely Nexus version)

3) Nexus 4 (no LTE? Don't care. I can easily enable it. Besides HSPA+42 rocks where I live. And with the money I would save I'd be able to cop a Nexus 7 with it:D)

So hypothetically speaking...
Is it possible for someone to buy a SIM from one of the 'BYOD ready' markets ex. Las Vegas, and take it to a technically 'BYOD non-ready' market such as Miami, drop it in a SGH-M919 Tmo S4, and have it work?

if not, whats an estimated guess on when FL markets will become 'BYOD ready' ?
Please dont answer unless you know the forsure answer to my questions, thanks

I don't see why not; course then you'd have a phone number from that byod market (or I assume so (but we all know what a$$-u-me means)).

It makes sense when you consider TMo does offer more. They offer corporate accounts and support good for enterprise apps. They give their customers 500mb of free hotspot per month, they have wifi calling, they have conditional call forwarding for things like Google Voicemail,

Not on prepaid plans. I previously used YouMail with TMo, but when I kicked the contract I found that Youmail stopped working. After spending 30 minutes on hold I was told that I couldn't use conditional voicemail forwarding with prepaid end of story.

I found one carrier that does offer this with prepaid plans, but they are 3G and almost as expensive as the 4G plan with t-mobile.

What is so special about VM forwarding that they don't let us do it on prepaid?

Tmo is only prepaid now...they should allow youmail to work...maybe there's an extra fee for it or something...

Is the Uncarrier plan prepaid? Or is it no contract postpaid. In other words do you pay your bill before your month begins or after it ends. Maybe thats the difference.

My plan is pay $60 at the beginning of the cycle, and all services end upon the end of the cycle (unless you refill your plan).

I'll call T-Mobile and ask if there is a difference between what I have now and the "uncarrier" plan.

Talking with TMo now. They have a no-contract post-paid plan that's the same price as the pre-paid plan. I can use Voicemail Forwarding with the post-paid, no-contract plan. No charge to switch over.

All set. thanks.

Hmmmmm really a no contract postpaid plan? If that's true I think that's one of the stupidest moves management could make for obvious reasons. Then again 95% of the time CS don't even know what theyre talking about. I'll always remember that cool January 2011 day when a metro rep told me that the only phone company with LTE is Verizon

Yes, their plan is no-contract postpaid. The catch is you have to submit to a credit check. Bad credit = up to one month's rate as deposit. I didn't have to pay a deposit. All set.

Yeah its just like being on ATT or Verizon after you fulfilled your contract and don't upgrade or if you decide to buy your own phone. I think you could also do this on most carriers. Just buy your own phone and just go month to month. The reason is that you're buying your handset therefore no contract is required because there's no subsidy. They credit check so they wont get burned.

the metropcs sgs3 will not run on gsm. the verizon variant was teh only one to have a locked bootloader, it was also the only one to have a world phone capable sim slot. sprint, cricket, metro, us cellular, cspire, boost. all just cdma/lte. myself and MANY others tried MANY things and it all came back to no one could get anything working.

They've been automatically connecting since the tmo towers have also started broadcasting the metro LTE ID aka MCC -MNC (311-660)

now I had asked if it would run off of tmo's towers and Gman said they would..so im not sure if it's the same as what you were trying to answer Shabby. But then im assuming the metro S3 will have 1x/3G/metro 4G/and Tmo 4G( when it's available)

Phase 2 coming :)

There’s not a lot to go on here, but a number of sources have pinpointed June 23rd as the launch of T-Mobile’s UNcarrier “Phase 2″ plan. In case you are wondering, we’re told there’s also a “Phase 3″ though details are also unknown. One of the rumored services launching with Phase 2 will be a “new” rate plan that is postpaid, with no credit check. The rates will be the same as what’s now offered and are specifically geared toward customers who don’t want to have their credit run. I’m told there won’t be any EIP offered with this plan and customers will buy phones outright.
T-Mobile’s UNcarrier efforts will also be paired with the already discussed 15 additional markets launching with MetroPCS. Internally named “Apollo 15,” the launch of the more markets has already been confirmed by execs from both companies. With the launch of a new service that allows Metro customers to use certain Sprint, Verizon and GSM-based handsets paired with Metro’s already outstanding all-you-can-eat rate plan choices, the launch of more Metro markets can only bode well for T-Mobile.
I can only hope Phase 2 allows for super awesome things like a free trip to Mars with every family plan purchase, or something cool like that. Just kidding. Seriously, no trips to Mars will be rewarded with any purchase.

Great,
let me ask this once more.

reason why im asking is because i obviously live in miami and want to take advantage of the BYOD although it doesnt say its a 'BYOD ready' market.

Also, any word on when Tmobile's SGH-M919 (LTE GS4) will be ready to use on Metro's BYOD ?

thanks in advance

I gave you an answer. Now, admittedly, I don't know for sure, but then probably no one knows for sure until you try it.

lol sorry i was half asleep when i read the entire page.
im considering doing that. my only issue is that for the GSM phone i happen to have is the Tmo LTE S4 which is not currently on the 'device list'

I refuse to think that these new metro gsm phones only have coverage where ever they are being sold. Could u imagine some metro customer from Las Vegas taking a trip to Florida or Texas and their phone don't work at all? I can't so with that being said I wanna experiment myself and see if i can get a hold of one of these metro sim card to use on a unlocked phone. Although thinking about it now i imagine I would need to get it activated in one of these cities with their area code number or else 611 won't activate it for me since I'm not in those areas...

So if you get activated on byod with say the T mob HTC One, would you use T Mobile's LTE, Metros LTE or HSPA+?

Being that t mobiles lte is still in limited cities and areas.

They cant call it nationwide 4G then if you cant use it nationwide so pretty sure you can use all the coverage on the coverage map.

Hey Floridians, see where our Gov gave us the shaft yesterday?

He reneged on the No Amazon deal and said they are coming here For Sure.

That means soon to come sales tax on Amazon phones. I don't think so Tim.

(Of course, one could argue the jobs are worth the sales tax but that's not the point here.)

Yeah, we got it here in Texas also. Taxes started for us back in February, I think.

So that's what I'm thinking so if we can get a dealer to sell us a MetroPCS sim card and activate it, it should work on any tmobile unlocked phone. I've called three dealers in Las Vegas neither bothered to answer my call so if any one know a dealer in any of those cities try to see if they are willing to sell and activate just the sim card.
