Metro PCS has 3G now!!!

Testing a potential method of pushing 3024 on CM7 phones....testing because I've pushed it, so far so good, but its a potential cellular brickster if not done right.

On note: I didnt like 3023...

3023:
upload was much faster
ping time was longer,
lost data altogether at a couple locations

3022:
slower upload than 3023
ping time faster
less dropouts

Currently on 3024 pushed on CM7 w/o reflashing
dropouts...I'll know by experience as the days come by

I'm picking through my notes to make sure (and hopefully) i put a nice tutorial, hopefully I finish by tonight, got stuff to do too.

Should I start a new thread for you CM7 ppl??? or just post here?

If you have long-term success w/this,I'd suggest a thread of it's own.
That's just my opinion,might wanna PM a GUIDE or MOD for their opinion,they're the one's who keep this place in order.
 
Yes but if the signal thats coming from the towers is capped it doesnt matter what prl you have the speed isnt going to change.
 
It depends on the location, the location, the location.

The newest PRL won't guarantee 3G if you are not in the area for it. I haven't tampered with my PRL at all and I finally got 3G after a long wait. Even with the newest PRL, I lose it often, sometimes in places where my friend has it, and he's at a lower number of PRL.

3020 started the 3G if I recall, around here, it really hasn't changed in speed, maybe the experience is due to the towers being worked on around you. My friends and I are all on 3024, one's already on 25, we all have 3G, and the speed's practically the same. I'd submit SpeedTests but co-workers really 'dont have time for it' as I'm told.

One guy's still 3020 and he's still getting the same 3G speeds and coverage as I am. Sometimes I lose it but he still has it and vice versa.

Is there something about pushing this prl different on cm7 than the other prls? Because I just been using qpst to write and test the others and have had no problems.

Sorry, I should of clarified a bit. It's not about this specific prl. Some (maybe most, on huawei ascend with CM7, atleast CM7.2 09132011 with me, my first CM7 flash) arent able to get QPST to work; this is due to drivers problem. The Huawei Ascend Hardware IDs arent that of a Huawei Ascend anymore, so it's no longer recognized as a Huawei Ascend device. Due to the mismatch, driver's arent loading or setting up properly. My guess is that this Hardware ID belongs to some other Android device (most likely where the the gingerbread was taken from).

Solutions:
1. (which i'm hoping for) Someone will recode the hardware ID on our device in some future ROM release to properly match the original IDs for Huawei Ascend.
2. (dirty way) We force driver installation, which is what my write up is about. It's really not that hard, but just be careful. you wont know nothing's gone wrong till QPST runs, or maybe even after; I actually dont know the consequence myself.

I was previously running 3022, and wanted to push 3024, but didnt wanna reflash. That's basically my solution for it w/o having to reflash.
 
Install the drivers and reboot into recovery and the drivers will install. Then go to mounts and storage and select mount usb and the ports will show up. ;)

I'll probably just leave my write-up as an alternative last prayer resort for anyone else having that sort of problem, and don't want to flash back n forth.
 
Anybody else not have service today in Florida?I havent had any all day. 0 bars all day. They better be unleashing from mother f'n mach 90 speed 3g.
 
Question: I've been in this thread for a while now and I'm pissed that I don't have 3G,so I'm thinking about going to a metro store and talking (more like screaming) to them. My question is should I flash back to the original metro android 2.2 rom before going this? And if so where can I download it? Also what are your guys up/down rates? I Max out at 100 kbps, but average 50-60. For download of course.

go to face to face contact with them lol and they will be shocked, and yes you should go to stock before you see them
 
Should I just download it from their website or is there anythng special I need to do? Running CM7. I don't want to brick my huawei like I did when upgrading to 2.2...
Screw it I can deal with reinstalling 2.1
