Metro prices going up $60 plan = $70

I just watched a couple of vids on youtube and people are raising hell over the new prices. they blame it on people using there esteems as hot spots for tethering...
Ill just have to find out where I can find a $50 plan again..I wont pay $70.

Metro shouldn't raise the prices and advertise they have the lowest prices cause they are now on par. This will prolong their climb from the bottom of the barrel, definatley not a good way to keep the client base you have now (happy) and move the company forward with momentum. wut yall thunk?

Old news, but yea I'll respond.

You can still pay $50. You'll be capped at 2.5GB of 4G and you'll be slowed down to "usable speeds" after that. $70 is the price of the Unlimited 4G plan. People who have been paying $60 will now get 5GB of data.

I stated this before, but over 90% of users are going to be fine on the $50 plan. If you don't tether, it's pretty difficult to use up 2.5GB of data. With 5GB of data is about 20 hours of Hulu. If you do tether, it's still difficult to get to 5GB. Basically, if you tether and use 10-100GB a month, they fork out the extra $10.

They do have the lowest prices. For 5GB of LTE for $60 is still a very good deal. VZW with their "double data promo" 4GB is well over $130. Sprint is Unlimited everything for $80+taxes, AT&T and T-Mobile are closer to VZW prices. All the other major carrier have been doing this for a while.

I know people are raising hell, but in the end, it's not even going to affect them. Those people just hear "they are raising prices" and they instinctively grab their pitchforks.

Truth is, this is better for most of us customers. This will stop the few people who are using 20GB-100GB a month or make them pay $70 a month. This creates more data and faster data for the rest of us to use. The extra money will allow them to buy up more towers. It's fair.

The 60 users still get unlimited they get grandfathered in so basically they have the 70.00 for 60 they original old price :D

This is from MetroPCS Facebook

MetroPCS Hello customer, existing customers on the $60 serviceplan aregrandfathered in and will remain on an unlimited 4G LTE serviceplan for $60 until they choose to switch to one of the new 4G LTE serviceplans. Thanks,KD

It has nothing to do with people tethering, out of the 500,000 that are on 4g, only a small percent of them even know about rooting, they raised the price to try and compete more with the big boys and to raise money to over hall their system, there is also talk that they have come to an agreement with sprint to share 4g.

I heard about Sprint buying into Metro, but haven't checked into it yet. If the price hike gets us faster speeds, I say go for it. I'm not worried if I'm grandfathered in or not. I don't use 5g of data anyway lol. The faster speed is what I want :D

Now what if you change phones, like buy a new phone but keep your same plan...will you still be grandfather in? I ask the question on metro fb but he only said, change plan..never talk about if you buy or change LTE phones and still keep ur same plan that u still be God father in

Does anyone really knows?

Cause I have the LG esteem and im on the family play, I have the 60 plan since Oct.

But I been thinking about buying the LG Connect either,at the Metro store or on Craigslist..or wait for a even better phone..but I don't want to lose my godfather in..if i just upgrade on a new LTE phone, but I want still keep my 60 plan, I dont want to change that..

Your plan won't be changed unless you yourself decide to change it. Upgrading to a new phone wouldn't void your grandfathered plan.

Yeah if you go to Metro's site and try to change your plan it will give you a warning that you will NOT be able to go back to the plan you are on because it's an old plan.

My advice, don't change plans if you enjoy your plan now. Im on the 40 and IM so glad I changed it a while back because Ill be damned if I pay full price for shit I dont need.

Thanks for the answers!! Ok I see how its working now. being grandfathered in is the shit! I have the family plan so I get the 5 bucks off my plan every month. so, as long as they dont try and force me (i dont want a small cap) to pay 70 for my plan im cool and still happy with metro,I havent needed customer support, ever! Maybe thats why, lol. I wonder how long they will let us have the old prices? Is there a time limit?
Im always on youtube and surfin around, hell I watch about 10 movies a month and have never been charged extra or told I went over and some of the movies are over a gig each. maybe the size of the downloads are diff for mobile? Im still a noob compared to some of you Yoda's, ive only been rooted for about a yr.

One more thing, about a week ago I took my phone in to Metro cause I had to buy a screen protector cause they have the ones that fix the esteem, and when I showed them my phone they filpped out, they loved it..so I had to show them the forum and all about rooting and roms kernels etc..I got that screen protector for free:D..

I just switched to the $40 4G plan from the originally $60 plan. I don't get 4G anyways, and 3G speeds are just plan horrible in my area and so I don't really need to for everything unlimited so, I'm fine with the basic 4G plan. I agree with you though why pay crap you don't need are even use at all. Just sayin... :D

I have the 4G plan and being that I get 100mb a month of streaming data, I never come close to going over. Everything else is unlimited so I dont have to worry about eating up that 100mb ever.

Plus all that extra Metro garbage, like their shitty apps, I don't ever use that shit so Ill be damned if im gonna pay for it. So therefore that 40 dollar plan is the most I will EVER pay to GHetroPCS. :D
