Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Unlock Galaxy S3 MetroPCS

I found this on another forum, and I know we have no current unlocking method, but unfortunately I can't currently test this as I don't have a different SIM. But here's a video and instructions:

The video says that Samsung has patched this for some phones, and if it doesn't work, to try and downgrade to 4.0.4 and then try it.

Just dial the following keys *#197328640#

Main Menu
[1] UMTS
[1] Debug Screen
[8] Phone Control
[6] Network Lock
Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF
(after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in
[6] Network Lock then choose
[4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone

not gonna work no need to bump. if u atleast tried to reach to the hidden menu u would of realized the dial code doesn't even work so that should of been your first clue. and even with my shortcut method of placing hidden menu on home screen the specified menu wont open. i've tried it. also this method is for gsm phones not cdma/lte phones.Thanks for sharing anyways.
 
It's not working on my GS3. At first my phone was running JellyBean, but I downgraded it to ICS (4.0.4).It still isn't working and the thing is when I did this, now any SIM card i put in it doesnt work for it, even the original carrier of the phone. I want to see if there is a way of fixing this or undoing it. Please help ME!! and please reply back!

also when i put perso sha256 off and wait 30 sec and push back, there is no nvinstalliz or something like that. whats going on?
 
N4zty has already stated this doesn't work. Are you using a metro S3? Because I can't get the option about sha256 on mine.
 
Dose anyone know how to unlock an GS3 MetroPCS? I have went to a lot of sites and YouTub but with no luck and tryed going to Unlockriver.com but MetroPCS is not listed as a carrier can some one explain to me how to unlock this phone?

You cant unlock it because it isn't GSM (Sim Card), it's a CDMA (Non-Sim Card)
 
I don't think you can unlock a CDMA phone. I also think the Sim Card is on for LTE. A Sim Card on a GSM phone is for the entire network. Unlocking a phone is Sim Unlocking by definition.
 
Like stated above its a uicc=universal integrated circuit card ....deals with lte 4g data only that about it. Merging this with already previous threads asking/discussing possibilities of unlocking.

Ps.. till qualcomm decides to share a unlock code the sch-r530m will never be unlocked. good luck!

I am running: Android version 4,1,2

Any suggestions?
I would really like to switch carriers but do not want to buy a new phone.

Again you are using a CDMA phone. The Codes only work on a GSM phone with a Sim Card. CDMA uses a card but not a Sim that controls the network. CDMA can only be "Unlocked" (not the right term for CDMA) by the Carrier that it is locked to.
 
This thread...should be locked or something...the phone's not going to be unlocked...even if it is by that time most will have transitioned to a gsm phone...
 
There is a way to (unlock) the cdma gs3, check out the Verizon gs3 section. Its a way to use a gsm sim card but you will loose LTE. You will have to use a few pro version apps. I forget which ones but titanium back up is one and apn manager is another I don not remember if there was anymore. Anyway it is a lot to go through just to loose LTE. You would only get edge at best.
 
As of JB 4.1.2 all Verizon phones became a World Phone, the use of GSM was built into the rom. Any phone that is not a World Phone on a CDMA network will not work on GSM.
