I think that its just Metro having slow data speeds. I guarantee if you connect with Wifi everything will be much faster

Call 1-888 8Metro8.

The fastest way to get a live rep is to wait for it to say blah blah for spanish, and they say Activation Support, then once it goes into that menu, say Retry, and it will quickly transfer you do a rep. I do it this way because if you don't and tell the automated system you want to talk to agent, it will say " I understand you want to talk to a agent, but I can probably help you faster here " no matter how many times you press 0 or say customer service, that damn bot will say the same thing. So first say activation support, then retry, and it will transfer you right away.

Once you have agent, have him/her double check your plan. Sometimes when activating a Huawei Ascend, it puts you on the regular 50 plan, not the smartphone plan which " could " be the reason why you can't do anything data related on your Ascend.

As far as the wifi, when your on your home screen, hit menu, then settings, then the first option should say Wireless & Networks, enable the wifi, and then click wifi settings, and connect to your home network.

That's pretty smart thinking NY! But I can't imagine the phone working at all if it isn't on an Android plan. Great way you thought up to get through the automated system. I will have to remember that the next time I call Cricket, which I hope will only be when I call to activate my new IDEOS X6 this summer! :D

Actually, I suggested to call and ask because I read of this happening to a lot of people. They are activating through the automated service, but the automated service clearly doesn't know what phones are the ones to go on the $50 smart phone plan or the regular $50 Plan, and yes the phone would still work but you just won't be able to do anything data related unless connected to wifi, so I would call and just ask and make sure.

So I was right after all about the slow data speeds. You DID need to call customer service after all. Jazziete this was what started our problem.

I think I said that dialing *228 wouldn't fix the problem if you weren't on Cricket. But I'm not sure now if that's right or not. I think you posted that you have to do that with either carrier.

The *228 didn't work and I didn't say it was. It was a suggestion. But I also said about calling customer service to fix it and was right on that one

Yes, I agree that calling Customer Service is a good solution in many cases. Have you ever had to call Cricket Cust Svc? It has to be one of the most frustrating experiences one can endure! (No I am not putting Cricket down! I'm only giving my op of their Cust Svc.) I actually LOVE Cricket. Most all companies these days have terrible Cust Svc. And I do understand that the Droid was new to them and I can read the manual just as good as they can. :P
