MetroPCS LG STYLO 2 PLUS

Please someone help me root the damn thing.. I'm dying over here.. Guess I'll have to live with it or save and get a nexus lol

Not me im keeping my 1st gen stylo as long as i can. Its a shame lg did the old hardware switch a roo. I've had the chance to compared the two variants its like night and day. The v10d firmware or any that came with 5.0 lp are just made and work better.

I have flashed KDZ before on previous phones.. But the file was already available

You're not going to find any firmware for an LG that was just released, and I wouldn't hold onto any hope that it definitely will be available; best to not even try rooting that thing until you have that KDZ in your possession.

Sell it before you break it. Even with someone else's donated system dump you're screwed if you're phone is MIA at the ADB party.

Besides you'll be much happier with a Nexus. You can get a 1st gen Nexus 5 for cheap and, with the exception of the camera, screen size and battery life, blow by the Stylo with hardware specs alone.

Not to mention the dev support for Nexus, which is a bit of an understatement.

Yeah. Was just trying to make the best of a gift.. Plus it's already metro pcs set.. No byod crap plus removable battery and SD card storage.. I still have my old stylo
. So I can live without rooting this one.. I also have nexus 7s so I'll just fiddle with them..thanks for all your help everyone.. This is just gonna have to take patience and coping skills lol

Cool.. Will begin the mission

well , the Stylo 2 Plus is available for T-Mobile now and this is a device i'm interested as a Back-up phone (current using LG G4) so i'll be keeping my eye on the KDZ for Tmo variant and as soon i get the device + kdz i'll be testing some unlock Bootloader + Root and let you guys know.

T-Mobile version is just about the same as the Metro version. Weak.

Seen those on Amazon too.. Was pondering on it.. It's cheaper than the one plus 3.. I think... Any other phones in that price range with similar specs that work on metro?

Moto G4 plus... 5.5" display,16 GB model going for $250 at Best Buy. Octo-core, 16MP camera with laser focus, front fingerprint reader. Believe it's unlocked, GSM/CDMA ready. Held one in my hand today, feels and looks great.

However, being released just the other day, and now wearing the Lenovo badge, gonna wait a while on that one.

Motor g gets 4g lte on metro?

Says on box it will work with "most" carriers in the US, probably meaning that Verizon won't let them on. Oh I forgot to mention the Moto G plus has 4GB of RAM, for those comparing it to the Nexus 5X, which I think has 2GB. The specs on the Moto G4 plus are almost too good to be true for $250

Right now I'm using a VZW Moto E as a temporary phone on my Metro account. LTE works fine on it, so I'm sure the G4 and G4Plus will both work fine on Metro.

I didn't know the G4 plus had 4GB RAM and sd card.

Now that is a great deal for $299

I brought up the Nexus 5x in comparison to the Stylo 2 Plus unlocked version.

Well the stylo 2 plus does look descent, but the zmax pro was just announced as well, and it will supposedly only be $99 bucks. They are saying it'll have a 6" 1080p screen, 32gb internal storage, 3400mah battery, and a snapdragon 617 processor. Truth be told, I don't think I'll get either one of these devices. LG and ZTE are both brands that aren't friendly towards developers. Most of us know about how lg likes to change a critical piece of hardware a few months after they release a phone making it nearly impossible to build a ROM that will work on everyone's phone, and how zte likes to lock down the system partition on their devices and not provide any access to the bootloader for unbricking or flashing a recovery or firmware. The stylo 2 plus and zmax pro both look like great phones for people who don't care about root or ROMs. If you're like me though and go insane using a phone that doesn't at least have root and twrp you might want to wait and see how things shake out

Has anyone figured out a way to root this device yet?

It probably isn't much different than the original Stylo. Unlock the bootloader in developer options and reboot to the bootloader then use a script that flashes SuperSU and/or twrp recovery.
Just have to wait for someone to write the script and/or build twrp for it.
