Root [MetroPCS] [MOD] [Beta] SdCard Memory Hack

Is the difference betweent Tmobile and MetroPCS is the firmware?

Maybe all of us on MetroPCS 'I' firmware can't get this to work because it needs to be on TMobile 'E' firmware?

E and I are both metro firmware. ive got a fix coming out if one of you guys with i would just come test for me

I'm afk right meow. I'm on night time pacific time

Ok, well, I'm home and unlike the last few times I've tried to be a guinea pig, to test for people I will be totally available for the rest of tonight. I'll stay logged in here and on IRC.
I'm an east coast night owl, anyway. So once you're free to do this, just let me know. I've been keeping my phone on a basic stock and rooted config until I could catch up with you or Angablade to run some tests, just as a precaution, in order to have someone with less experience take a chance of bricking their phone, feel free to send the info/links via PM, until we have a fix that virtually ANYONE can install. If I don't respond right away just give it a few minutes, since I'm not going to sit at the computer and wait all day/night, I'll keep checking for any response but once we start, I'll be here and ready when you are to get this up and running for us poor saps that have been unsuccessful.

Appreciate that. But how are you booting into clockwork recovery? I downloaded ROM Manager and ran it, but I got to a point where I had to tell it what phone I was using and the F6 wasn't an option.

I've been using press's F6Utilities.apk. just download it and install it on your phone. Heres a link to the download. (Click the BLACK "Download" button in the middle)
Dev-Host - F6Utilities_v1.2.apk - The Ultimate Free File Hosting / File Sharing Service

Install it
Open/Run it
Touch "Recovery Menu"
Touch "Reboot To Recovery"

It will reboot your phone into Clockwork

Perquisite Edit: I just wanted to add this for anyone that's a true beginner to Android/modding their phone. It should go without saying, but.........
If you haven't already done it, make sure you go into Settings > Security > and be sure there is a check in the box "Unknown sources" Allow installation of apps from sources other than play store" make sure you have that box checked, or it can't install. Most will have done this already, and it shouldn't have to be pointed out, but for the few who haven't, and anyone not familiar to Android, its something fairly important, and I wanted to make sure it's been pointed out.

God bless. Will try this evening.

I'm also on pacific time and will get on IRC tonight. I'm working with a T-mobile version with h firmware.

I'm on Metro and running their "i" firmware, which I'm pretty sure is why me and some others haven't been able to apply this fix and to get this mod to work

I'm on the h firmware and got the MOD to work but flashing the recovery that came with MOD don't seem to work so I reverted back to pressy4pie original loki but when I try and back up its not finding data partition and fails back up

Thanks for this, including the edit. I've done as you said and installed the F6 utilities apk. When I choose "reboot to recovery", I get the little Rebooting Recovery in a black box, but then it goes away and nothing happens.

The only thing that comes to mind is, do you have it rooted with superuser/superSU? IF so make sure the F6Utilities has superuser permission.

AWESOME! I'm almost there. Just flashed the recovery and boot images. Now I went to boot and now it says "ROM may flash stock recovery on boot, THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE"

Do I choose yes or no?

Finally got the recovery to stick, flashed manually through adb now I'm on PressY4Pie Custom CWM v6.0.4.6 and was able to backup. Going to try restore backup in a bit......edit.....was able to restore backup through the new recovery

Well... I've selected Yes it every time, which is the point of the mod, but I haven't got it to work yet, because of some issue with Metro's "i" firmware. After I've done it, I still get the stock internal size... Selecting No won't install it. I'm waiting to hear from Pressy4pie to try and get mine to work. I don't know your experience level, or if you'd be able to recover from any type of boot loop, brick, etc... but if you've done everything in the guide, I believe the worst that would happen if you click yes would be, no change. At this point I'd have to say use your own judgment, while following his guide.
I've played around with my phone enough, that I'm confident I can recover it from just about anything at this point, but not enough that I could guarantee walking someone else through recovering their phone. Sorry just being honest.

edit: Just realized which step you said, and I've selected both options, with no real problem

Appreciate all that, seriously. My experience level is fairly low, which you probably guessed from all my questions.

I did choose yes and then did another factory hard reset via the 3 buttons. Result was no change, I'm still at 1.27 GB :(

Yeah, will be playing the waiting game. Thanks for walking me through as far as you did though. I see that you've only made 21 posts since you joined in Oct 2011 and six or seven of those were helping me. It's appreciated.

Lol, NP, I generally use forums to find what info I need, unless there's an unresolved issue. If I'm able to help anyone I will, but many others are far more qualified to contribute than I am.
Hopefully Pressy will be around tonight so I see what he has to try next.

well i went ahead and downgrade the firmware to e.. and going to try this out.. I'M getting the
loki patch v2.1
e: - failed to mmap aboot
e: error loki-ifying the boot image .

what kernel do i need to be on?? for this to work>??

yep when i disable the advance loki feature i was able to install but it doesnt stick. internal memory is still 1.27 gig.. i have downgrade firmware to e.. no go from here

I flash both mod raw img with flashify if that helps any, but only boot.img stuck not recovery
And... for recovery to stick I used adb to flash recovery

I'm on "i" firmware as well, and tried everything a knowledgeable end user could, to get it working without any luck, but a little while ago on IRC at least two more of us just got it working right (with a manual install using ADB), I'm not sure what his timeframe is, but if you can wait a little longer, I'd just give him some time to finish working the bugs out of his installer. If he doesn't post about it, I'll help as much as possible, after I've had some time to be sure everything works the way it should without any issues. So far, so good. Tomorrow/tonight I'll check back and see if there's any change or progress. He is the first one to successfully pull it off, and trust me, IT'S WORTH THE WAIT!!! Right now if you're above "e" firmware I'd just avoid the headache, and wait a bit longer, Christmas is coming early.
