Root [MetroPCS] Stock wifi tether app working

I recently found a way to use your stock wifi tether, it requires ROOT of course, but its very simple.

1. Find, download, and install Market Unlocker (no links will be posted) not in the market.

2. Switch it to Russia, turn it on, and use your wifi tether.

Can anyone explain why/how this works

It has something to do with a license/region check. Market unlocker changes the region on your device while active. Similar to a gps spoofer.

I have the best solution to this thread... are you ready for it. The stock tether app works just fine it does exactly what it is suppose to do and all you have to do to bypass the verification check is to install the app called elixir 2 from the play store, create a status bar widget with a tethering option if you don't want a new status bar then simply create a widget for your home screen using the other elixir 2 apps on the play store. When you activate the button it wont ask metro pcs if you've paid and simply turns on the hotspot. ENJOY

Darn this Elixr had me excited. Didn't work for me. I'm on a rooted MPCS F6 using it on Tmobile. Still searching for a workaround if anyone has any ideas. This did the same thing for me that the app Quick Settings did. It would turn on the Hotspot fine (bypassing the notification), I would then connect to it with another device ( It would connect). But then it would not share the data service. Thanks again

Did you get the MetroPCS notice about "Service Upgrade required"?

No it just connect on the device I'm trying to tether. But then I get a pop up saying "Sign into Wi-Fi network". Then if I click on that it takes me to Tmobile link "Turn your Smartphone into a Mobile Hotspot!

Thats pretty much the same page

For you more experienced users, have a look at the tether hack I posted in another thread. May or may not work, just read the post.

XDA gives out the link:
[APP][ROOT] Market Unlocker/Enabler - xda-developers

Better than finding some shady source

Ok, so Russia wasn't listed, I switched it to Swiss, and it works. It lets me use the tether option, however, I can't pick up the SSID. I have it as open/broadcast, and running linux can't pick it up, but all other wifi is getting picked up?

I have Market Unlocker v3.5 installed. And, Russia is one of the choices.
