This is pretty significant. The "User Agent", for me anyway, was a pain the ass until it was done. Using a VPN, seems easier on the surface, unless there is a decrease in download/upload speed?

How does it work compared with "WiFi Tether" in this thread? Did you have to do a lot of configuration? Did you still have use an "User Agent" on the PC side?

An yes need an agent but i read u can just change user profile from the app itself

1. Easy to configure
2. Was able to use encryption and open.
3. I didn't need to "kill" system/bin/hostapd.

I used Speakeasy Speedtest and got 17.x Mbps up and down. That's cell data. WiFi where I am now is 1.85x down and .66x up
EDIT: Now home: 8.13Mbps down and 4.33 up.
EDIT2: Are we always sharing cell data [AND NOT WiFi] with these tethering apps?

With wifi tether u do not share cell data.
It totally jump calls and sync. Which runs on wcdma or Gsm
Our phone does not hav voice over LTE.
It gives u internet data only thats why u can make calls over wifi or wcdma or gsm
Thats why When u make a call ur phone will drop to 4G (wcdma,gsm)
My data speed its about 13-50 down n 9-23 up.
Depending where im located.
The only one is a bit more faster is through usb tether.
But like i said it all depends in locations.

I use CWM- tether (usb) when im working with old PCs with out wificards Or IMacs... sometimes with my lapto when i hav to use files that are on my phone
I Hav Windows but i run Linux n X.Os(virtual) on my PC depending on my projects.
I running linux mint 16 new to linux. I couldn't get cwm usb tether to work for me. Guess i will just stick with wifi tether
