Root [MetroPCS] Tethering for MPCS.F6....!!! All Roms **VIDEO for stock only** UPDATED 12-02-14

UPDATE: After installing Android Tuner Free I accessed the hostapd file from AT's (root) Explorer and was able to check the Execute permissions but it didn't show the checkboxes for Set UID /GID / Stick. However, I do have wifi tether working without those. I am writing this from my desktop connected to wifi from my F6!

So u are able to tether to any game console.?

Omg you are the man. Now my 2 PC's, Xbox and sons Wii can connect. Anyone get crazy with data usage and get booted from metro or got a warning?
I've been on METRO for 3 yrs and have used at least 5 TB's of data and nothing yet (knock on wood) I use metro tether for all of my *cough*cough* downloading purposes.

If anyone has got it to work with ps3 or ps4 let me know how you did it. Thanks
I do. First I connect the tether to my laptop and then share my connection through ICS (internet connection sharing) on my pc. The pc is connected through lan to my network and router. After that it's the same as being hooked up to cable or pghone company internet. There may be another way to do it, but in the house it's easy for me. That way I'm sharing my 4G connection through the whole house to other pc's, ps3, ipad or whatever. Hope that helps.

My god man, that's insane. Lol. I finally got mine working and streaming for a few days got me to 8 gigs and I was nervous. Haha

That's a great idea.

Just to report, this works sometimes on my metro pcs Huawei valiant.

Just unbricked, so it'll be a while before I play with it again.

My brickedness is unrelated. LoL

I tried this to no avail. I'm gonna try again in a few and will post back. Thanks ahead of time.

*Edit* I got it second go around. Is there anyway to do it where you don't have to kill hotspd each time?

I love the tutorial but I have a couple issues. I had a working tether with gaming on my pc. League of legends. But mpcs would hijack my browser if trying to use the Web. I never could change permissions for the file and now I can't even find the file any more in system Tuner to kill it. It was there yesterday but now It's not in the list. Also not creating a hot spot signal any more. Any ideas on how to fix this.

Hi i am new to this. I am planning to buy F6 and use it as wifi hotspot for my house.

I read the description, it said "no wifi encryption". So is there a way to encrypt the wifi so that other people can't use your internet?

No one can connect unless you verify them, you verify what devices use your internet and it tells you when people are trying to join

I got everything working except when I go and browse the Web on my pc it redirects me to sign up for tethering with mpcs. An exception is Google and Facebook. They both don't have any problems loading up on my pc. I can also play league of legends.

To my knowledge;

Some people report 100% working. This should mean all apps on PC operate correctly; all internet enabled devices can connect flawlessly.

Other people (myself included) report limited success; the constant being varying levels of actual success.

What I've discovered:

If the first machine you connect runs Tor and shares, all devices connect to Tor machine, tethering is 100%.

If you share only to mobile devices, 99% of the time it works flawlessly with no need for Tor.

Varying levels of success have been reported across devices, but a look at the vastness of successes leads me to believe Tor would circumvent the variables that cause it to fail.

Certain websites and apps apparently utilize a blend of mobile vs. desktop technologies, and thus work without needing Tor. (Google and Facebook are unfiltered domains)

FYI Tor is a free open source anonymising proxy server. You can get it on Android, PC, Mac, Linux, etc.

Data is not all equal. Desktop data looks different than mobile data. Obfuscated data is carrier-permitted. Desktop data is not. Hence, the need for Tor, to obfuscate the data so the carrier cannot tell it is Desktop data.

Hope to have summarised well enough for you.

Tether works fine on mine out of the box. I got a Metro L6 unlock and on tmobile. No root or any special registery editing :\

if i were to pay for tethering, will i be able to tether to my gaming console and stream netflix and all that good stuff?
