Root [MetroPCS] Tethering for MPCS.F6....!!! All Roms **VIDEO for stock only** UPDATED 12-02-14

Does this method works on the xbox one? Recently metropcs has block foxfi completely.. WiFi tether router no longer works as well.. Android Turner is now updated and I don't see a kill option anymore..

Thanks for the prompt response.. I have the newest version from the play store.. After messing around with it I found the settings.. And thank you for the crystal clear instructions I manage to get it work for my xbox one.. Although it's moderate nat type I'm not complaining lol.

But I was wondering if there were any other method for tethering.. Wifi tethering was quite unstable for my xbox 360..

I need to know which rom do you have

[pain, much pain...]
I installed the WiFi Tether app and it got root access. I uninstalled SVTP - my only other tether app. I followed the instructions in the OP,
VERY CAREFULLY -
i.e. settings for WiFi tether, hostapd, killing hostapd after starting tether, using Ultimate User Agent Switcher on PC browser. So, if this is still working for others, I would like confirmation and possibly, some help?

EDIT: *** Scratch *** the above.
I forgot with WiFi Tether you need to check a box beside "Connected/Authorized Clients" because of Access Control being ON. Maybe this is only for the first time a device is connected?

EDIT2: [I am wasting so much time here...]
I just tried using the "Marker Unlocker" method with the built-in mobile hotspot app which worked before also. This results in the T-Mobile page coming up PC side browser [with User Agent again]. I'll just have to wait for feedback from someone. I'm getting nowhere.

Has MetroPCS changed anything? Other methods worked previously...

I'm not using any roms im not too technical but I guess you could say stock.

For you op instructions should b good to go...

@Trevor
R U still using the method in the OP? I was using SVTP which worked until I tried it today.

EDIT: By not working, I mean the T-Mobile offer is coming up instead of a web page and I am using Ultimate User Agent Switcher.
For you it should be good to go too... On UASwitcher for ggl make sure u hav it set to IE9 or if u are using IExplorer as browser DL the .reg run it with the browser closed then open IE .. N if u update browser or its any update on windows update run the .reg again

And if any of you install any other app for tethering and do not like n uninstalled it you should wipe cache n dalvik cache again... This shold b done for any app that you are replacing for other... To get rid off the junk under the hood. Or use AT or SdMaid their are great apps

Another long run its installing toggle hotspot from PlayStr and SQLite editor pro find system storage setting go to settings/global/ tether_dun_require=1 change value to #0 but you would hav2 do this every time you reboot

***edit*** after that u toggle hotspot widget it should b ggod to go... U can set up ur info in setting however you like

R U saying that if you toggle this setting, you can use the hotspot [with User Agent on PC side]? Can U provide a link for this app? And, can U provide more detail about how to change the setting U mention above?
i.e. In order to edit this,
"settings/global/ tether_dun_require=1 change value to #0",
You need SQLLite Editor Pro. And, is "settings" a file? And, if so, where can it be found?

R U saying

Widget https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fattin.togglewidget.hotspot
1). First u need SQlite editor pro.
*open sqlite grant root
* on the app tap look for system storage app click on it.
* click on settings.db
* click on global
* look for tether_dun_required click on it
*On the top its likeva pencil tap click on it
* Change value from 1 to 0
*Close app

2). Now go to Tethering/Network settings
Change your settings how ever you like
Make sure you have it as
*security = WPA PSK
*maximum connection = 8
* Broadcast channel = Auto select
* Save
Close settings
*Toggle Hotspot and wait for it to show
Connect

[I have SQLite Editor installed]I am having trouble with these steps:

* on the app tap look for system storage app click on it.
* click on settings.db

I can't find "System Storage app" [in SQLite Editor]. And, I tried a search for "settings.db" with Root Explorer and could not find it? "Settings.xml", but not .db?

Settings.db or xml are
The same but don't mess by trying to edit script just follow pics

Look for "com.android.providers.settings". It's there.
I think U and I arrived at this about the same time! LOL Although, with me, it involved painstaking "trial and error"! I'm sure you figured it out much quicker than I did!

@krlypumaa instructions with @GameTheory's ROM [or stock]:
Using SQLite Editor:
Access "com.android.providers.settings"
Click on "settings.db"
Click on "Secure" [NOTE: not "Global", as in the other ROM]
Now, "tether_dun_required" will be visible. And, everything else will be the same.

Please correct me if anything else is "off"?
