Root [MetroPCS] Tethering for MPCS.F6....!!! All Roms **VIDEO for stock only** UPDATED 12-02-14

Okay so I'm confused and frustrated. Previously I was able to tether using only the paid version of foxfi. I got a Metro's new Galaxy Avant the week it came out but I've gotten sick of it since the hotspot wouldn't work which left me to choose between Bluetooth and USB tethering, neither of which are viable options for connecting tablets. I've already sold my old f6, which I now regret. I bought a new F6 so I could use thehotspot again, and now the hotspot won't work on my new f6! I get the upsell page no matter what device I am using. Can the method in op fix this? In my past experience foxfi worked fine. What changed?

Are you on any rom? Just follow intrunctions... Make sure u hav the UserAgent switcher. In the chrome n or downloaded yhe ie .registry in op

I'm now using the method shown in the OP and its working. Is there any way to avoid having to kill system/bin/hotsapd every time?

Nope... Sorry... Not @least with stock,Xperion,kk or mini... I knw that with cm its go through with no issues... But u hav2 face the bugs that we all trying to figure out. :confused:

Ok I am going to try this with my galaxy avant when I have the time to switch my service back to it. If it works I'll give you credit and post a link to this thread. Thanks for all the time you've spent tinkering in order to find this.

Jajajaja. No problem... I think u maybe wanna try all the options... In OP... Another thing.... Galaxy Avant has no supports yet? Good luck. :cool:
 
When you kill hostapd does it stay killed?

When I kill it it disappears from the list for just a moment but pops right back into the list.

I followed the instructions to the letter but no luck. This is a newer f6 so I'm thinking they might have changed something.
 
No... But the x needs to be gray not red
It longest is on stock ROM.. Follow first instructions.... U need UserAgent... On brawser... All downloads are in the post
 
I don't have the phone with me right now but I don't think there were any x's, either gray or red. Could be that I just don't remember though. I have a feeling something is different now with something. Could be the phone, could be the app. The play store link in the first post takes you to "3C Toolbox", but that app does seem to be able to do the same thing as the app mentioned in the instructions. Maybe just renamed. As for the rest of the method, I've been familiar with that WiFi tethering app and user agents for a few years now.

I will take a closer look tomorrow when my daughter is over with her phone again. I'm trying to nail this down now because we bought three of the $40 MetroPCS F6's for three of our kids for Christmas. Thanks for the help and providing this method!
 
OK, so I have the phone back in front of me now and I see what you mean about the X's being either red or gray. The X by hostapd starts out gray and stays that way after I kill it (then comes back right after I kill it). The laptop can connect to the phone but there is no internet content available. In network and sharing center of win 7 it shows a red X indicating no internet.

I dont knw why its opening the free android tuner... Just search on play store n download the pay version
 
Just for my clarification, you are calling the app "android tuner pro", however, that app seems to have been replaced with one called "3C Toolbox". Is that correct?
