Root MetroPCS Tiered 4G Plans

they do that and they will end up loosing a lot of costumers. people aren't going to pay those prices. most people get metro because they can't afford the other guys, if you are just going to have the same prices as the big boys why would people stay?

Yeah it's a shame. They claim they changed the plans to cater to the customers data usage needs, which is complete bs. Luckily I was grandfathered in otherwise I would have canceled myself.

Give it another year and we'll all be under contract. :p

Well they are borrowing 4G from Sprint. that is
what the rumor is and not talking about invading speeds... This is just what wee know from a decently reliable source but it was also noted that this cannot be taken as a fact but not with a grain of salt either.

sorry i really dont see how on earth we can get 4g from sprint. thats completely impossible. sprints 4g is a damn joke its a disgrace to technology. you cant get 4g on sprint at downtown san jose or frisko if youre indoors. their wimax 4g is the crappiest technology ive seen and theyre having enough trouble catching up with their own customers to offer bandwidth. sprint is dying metro is rising. those guys dont even have 4g at their own damn stores and speeds go from 700kb to 14mb it just depends how lucky you are. ahaahaha i was going to switch with them since they are unlimited but ya right! tried it for 2 days absolutely horrible service.
not to mention their outrageous contracts and termination fees. NEVER get sprint they are garbage seriously.

yeah, if metro ends up with a contract, theyll loose everyone i know!! thats the whole reason for metro, we have shitty credit, dont want to pay a deductable of 5-600 bucks ontop of paying for a phone throughout the 2 years on top of a ridiculous bill.

metro pcs, if you turn into a contract provider, your ship will be like the titanic, it will 100% sink. im surprised you havent noticed the thousands already jumping your ship from tiering up plans.

Well if I looked and read you would've noticed that I was talking about Verizon Wireless speeds and not Metro PCS LoL

oops my bad then.

No it's not a big deal... I actually just reread my post and even with the LoL at the end it seemed as I was being rude. Didn't mean it that way, I just basically meant that I was just talking about another carrier.

I believe you guys are missing the point on this. You used to have to pay a minimum of $50 just to have an Android phone (1X in Vegas) through Metro. The way I see it, is that while you do have to pay more for the 4G phones, you are now able to purchase an Android platform with 4G at a monthly rate of $40! I am on the unlimited 4G, at a rate of $45 (family), and my wife uses minimal internet. I will take the unlimited 4G at $45, move her to the lowest 4G at $40 (of which now I am paying $45 for an Android 1X) and will make out like a bandit. Saving $10 off the new 4G and still maintaining an Android platform. Don't believe that is a bad thing for people wanting an Android platform with limited internet for $40. No other company offers that. However, the $70 unlimited is getting in line with the other carriers, and people looking for unlimited are going to possibly look at their options in that range.

Well I guess I stuck up for Metro PCS too soon. I bought an LG Esteem to use on my unlimited 4G plan at $50 (price of 4G the first week it was offered), 4 days ago. I asked numerous times to ensure that this would not cause a problem and change my 4G plan to their new plan structure. They assured me it would not. I find out today that I am now on the $50 2.5G plan! They switched me anyway. Called and spent 40 minutes on the phone trying to explain what happened, and all they tell me is that its not that bad. The new 4G is going to be "FASTER" than the old 4G (RIGHT), and that I wont notice a difference until I exceed the 2.5G, at which time I will be throttled back to 1X. Really Metro PCS! This is how you expect to retain customers! Customer Service told me that if you ever change your phone or anything about your current plan, that you will be moved to the new pricing. There is no grandfathering of your current plan! FAREWELL METRO PCS!

Yes there is grandfathering in lol.you just bought a new device and they have to select a plan when you change a device or as another device. This is why you were switchedtoo the new plans.

And also, are you planning on selling the Esteem immediately because from what I know you can't return a device when our is used as an upgrade but could've changed recently.

So let's get this straight we are grandfathered in till we get a new phone even if you don't change your 4G plan or is it only when you change something in your plan?

If you get a new device you will need to pay new plan price. I think my days in metro are counted.

That is correct, according to Customer Service, if you purchase a new phone you will be moved to the current plan. I don't see the logic in that. The plan is only as good as your current phone, with no change in the technology? You have additional phones, yet cant purchase them for fear of losing your plan? Its not like you are going from an antiquated plan and trying to hold onto it with non-compatible equipment. The new phone is perfectly capable of qualifying with your plan.

I guess Metro makes nothing on my purchase of a new phone.

well i got an answer and its in the screenshot lol

I don't think what you're saying here is correct. When my Esteem was stolen last year and I bought a new one, I called up Metro to activate it. I was on the $50 plan plus the $50 grandfather that they had last year...which is unlimited everything on $50 except for video streaming. I told the rep to make sure I'm on the same $50 plan and that I keep my grandfather plan...and he made sure that I didn't lose anything.

Just talk to a rep (not a store rep...one from the activation line) when you're changing phones and they'll be able to keep all your plans in tact.
