Root [MetroPCS] to get rooted B12

so the root keeper app does work i find it to be the easiest and safest just remember if you have cwm installed the ota update wont install thats the only reason it took me a little bit to get it because i had to make sure cwm was not installed which required me to update to make sure it worked then downgrade, root, run root keeper, upgrade again, and then run root keeper again but all is well thank you Nirhazine youve been a great help to our community

Last time I tried updating to 12b via OTA it got stuck in a recovery boot. How do I prevent that from happening again? That's the only thing now preventing me from updating.

Im asking again, sorry, but the phone not being recognized by a computer had happen to anyone else? Ive read that may be usb cable fault but ive tried to different cables and none of them works. Could it be something else?
Thanks in advance.

Make sure you don't have cwm installed if your trying to do nirhazine's method best way to check is turn off your phone and hold vol down + power and hit the power twice to confirm and if it doesn't go to cwm you should be safe to update

Well I do have CWM. It makes restoring backups possible... It doesn't seem worth the hassle updating to 12b right now.

I didn't realize you can get to clm recovery from boot. Even when rooted on 10i i only got stock recovery. Always had to use the recovery app

Sorry, stock factory reset...

I am a major noob. Is there an easy step by step way of rooting 12b? I am going to see if I can figure out the steps you posted. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have never plugged my phone into my laptop before.

okay, im on 12b, im trying to get root. ive tried the Trevor & GameTheory methods and i just cannot figure this out. i am by no means an Android expert but a have successfully rooted multiple phones (including my wifes f6 but that is still on 10i). i am wondering if anyone can do a guide (or link me to one) for going back to 10i with the kdz method or any method for that matter. i have tried looking everywhere before asking this (im not trying to waste anybodys time by requesting duplicated info) but the only guides i can find are for older LG's (optimus 2x etc.)

any help will be greatly appreciated

If you have never plugged your phone into your laptop then why do you want to root it? Because your friend told you that you can make your phone go "super fast" or because he said "dude you can get hotspot for free". You are better off paying the extra $10 a month. This is not the phone for a noob to start learning on. Believe me, I have had 11 Android phones and I have rooted and modified every one of them that it was possible with. This phone is by far the hardest I have ever tangled with so you might want to start on something that has alot of development behind it, i.e. Samsung Galaxy S3 or S4, HTC One, or the like.
