Root MidnightRom: Jellybean [MOVED]

Is anyone running this ROM with the gapps linked in the OP? I just want to be clear if it's either/or between those and the slim gapps.

ramjet73

I am using the gapps from the OP.

did you try changing the processor speed in A.S.S. as opposed to using the kernel tuner?
Yeah but it doesn't change anything. I chose any other speed but then it just says 1134. The only thing I can change wih A.S.S. is the scheduler it seems.

I tried the gapps linked and it did not work. it told me gmail had an update but could not update. Even after 1.01 was release. I had no problems with AIO.

I too am using the standard gapps from the op, not the slim edit

and I havent really had any issues out of the ordinary whatsoever using this rom. Probably the best JB to hit my phone yet since Evervolv is still alpha stages

Can anyone confirm that voice mail is working? People that try to call me and when I call my voice mail just get a "sorry (my #) is not a recognized mail box..."
Maybe this is a Virgin Mobile issue?

[EDIT] I guess there's some problem with my number. I just tried going back to MidnightRomS and I still had that problem. ((sigh)) I guess I'll have to call VM...

I just tested my voicemail to be sure, and it works fine. I receive both; the new voicemail notification and the text. :)

I am S-OFF with Hboot 1.04. I have and used 4EXT recovery to flash this ROM. After I flashed the ROM (Coming from Mobster ROM HD) I tried to boot ROM, it booted, reboot 3 times I assumed it just needed to stable. It rebooted twice really fast then nothing. Tried adb reboot bootloader in command prompt and i get error device not found. I've tried pulling the battery nothing helps. My phone won't turn on, boot into bootloader, NOTHING IS HAPPENING. PLEASE HELP.

If your phone won't even turn on your options are somewhat limited.

There are procedures in post #3 and #5 of this thread that you can try. If they don't work you will probably have to get your phone repaired or replaced.

This is one of the reasons I recommend keeping the firmware components at a consistent level and as close to stock as possible. It's really hard to tell what causes these problems after they occur but a mix of firmware versions can't help.

This happened to me.
1. take out battery
2. hold down the power button for 15sec with battery out.
3. place battery back in phone and put the back on.
4. try to turn on. If it doesn't turn on try a different charger (this worked for me a few times. this worke dfor me a few times i remember back on at&t when i had the slider windows phone htc 8250 i think it needed a charger with more amperage to start the charge.)
5. If the above doesn't work maybe take it in to sprint if you have the warranty.

What exactly does this do? I've never heard of it before, and can't imagine that holding the power button would do anything with no power source??
Is it just the battery pull that's doing the trick here, or does holding the power button with the battery removed serve a legitimate purpose?

It makes sure any residual energy isn't stored anywhere in the phone (like in any of the capacitors), so it ensures you are getting the coldest boot you can get.

I did this at my old job ALL the time for laptops that wouldnt power on properly. Pressing the power button without a source of power will clear our and eliminate any left over juice residing in the device that would cause it to now power properly.

EDIT: ENVIE beat me to it ;)

I have not tore my phone apart (yet), yet a lot of electrroiinic devices have a capasitor built into them, that supplies a brief amount of electricty in case of a brief (10 seconds or less) power interuption. That is why when you unplug a dsl or cable modem you are asked to wait 10 - 30 seconds before plugging it back in. Also, on a computer motherboard you can move a jumper that whipes the BIOS memory,, and you do that with the power cord removed. I am guessing this is like the later, wiping the BIOS rsettings so you get a clean start-up.

So how's the rom running everyone? I see a few small issues, but nothing really severe.

Battery life? (for me, 7+ hours so far and i'm at 80%))
Bugs? (none really)
Suggestions? (more awesomeness?)
Donations? (jk lol)

I am having a small issue. Today I used my external speaker and my antivirus program (webroot secure), I have on my phone popped up and said that a file is dangerous, that it is a trojan. The file name is ACID Sound Mod. I looked in TB and it looks like this is a system file. I am weary about deleting this file since it is a system file. I froze it and afterwards, I lost my data connection, and then when I rebooted, it wouldn't come back on. I defrosted it and I got my data connection back. Can anyone give any insight into if this file is dangerous or not? Apparently, this rom needs this file to work properly. Anys suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Also, is there anyway to get the mail widget back. I loved it when I was on the sense version of the midnight rom, but is not available on this rom. Thanks

Tried that. All of those to be honest. Still nothing. I am really not enjoying my $300 paper weight either.. lol

ROM is running fantastic! The only tiny issue is the search function not working on Music for me, it FCs when I click on a search. (not sure if it's just me)

Edit: I installed Music.apk from the AIO Addons, it works fine now. ;)

Overall, I had never felt so well with a JB ROM that has everything I need working flawlessly and with an amazing battery life. I truly appreciate all your hard work. :)

Do you have another battery you can try? Also, when you connect it to a PC does it show as QHSUSB_DLOAD in device manager?

Another suggestion I've seen for a phone that won't power on is to remove the battery for about 15 minutes, then charge it overnight and try again in the morning.

Other than that, I'm pretty much out of ideas.

Are you using any third party app?

Try a full wipe and reinstall. The lights are working fine for me.

no and iI have. They work fine for a bit and then stop. seems to happen after a reboot. they turn on and then do not turn off. Someone else reported the same issue a page or two back

If you could get the 3D camera working it would make a lot of users here and on XDA very happy. ;)

ramjet73

Yeah! 3D on JB would make this phone the best! (In terms of being 3D capable) It is always nice to dream that it could be possible for a non-savy guy like me.)
