Root MidnightRom: Jellybean [MOVED]

Will the 3d feature ever work? I really don't use it and most likely won't! i was just wondering because a lot of roms dont have it. why is that?

Until HTC releases the source code for the kernel for our phone, I highly doubt 3d will ever work on anything other than Sense 3.6.

The source code for the VM kernel, including the OTA updates, was recently released on the htcdev.com website but it doesn't include the proprietary stuff like the 3D and WiMax drivers. If that ever gets released it will be when it has little value to anyone. :(

If this is aokp.. where is rom control? All I see are slim settings. My favorite part of aokp is the weather in the notification area.. I know there are apps that do this but they just don't look as nice.

yea but thats just to get the camera working, there is an app workaround for 3d but nobody has built it yet

jmz's evo 3d switcher comes the closest. it enables the following (info pulled from here)

As a part of the HTC Open Sense SDK, The DisplaySettings class is provided to allow applications to enable or disable S3D on a particular surface.

It can support several stereoscopic formats:

STEREOSCOPIC_3D_FORMAT_OFF
STEREOSCOPIC_3D_FORMAT_SIDE_BY_SIDE
STEREOSCOPIC_3D_FORMAT_TOP_BOTTOM
STEREOSCOPIC_3D_FORMAT_INTERLEAVED

if we could build an app that does a similar action but instead enables "STEREOSCOPIC_3D_FORMAT_SIDE_BY_SIDE" we would have the first half of 3d video. the second half would be to blindly load up a sbs 3d video with mxplayer, the video would then be in 3d. (i say blindly becuase everything will be weird looking when the button in the theoretical 3d switching app is pressed.)

so yes we can have 3d video, if someone makes a 3d switching app that turns on the chip based sbs mode (gotta be chip based im assuming, since jmz's app works in this rom)

another alternative would be to make a converter to convert 3d videos to interleaved and use jmz's app as it is.

Bugs I've found are capacitive lights stay on after I lock the phone and when I turn it off or reboot it stays on the beats logo and sometimes the CRT effect is there and sometimes its not

So how's the rom running everyone? I see a few small issues, but nothing really severe.

Battery life? (for me, 7+ hours so far and i'm at 80%))
Bugs? (none really)
Suggestions? (more awesomeness?)
Donations? (jk lol)

Again we all thank you for the AWSUM ROM, Thank you for all the hard work ingratiating all the little stuff that makes it shine.

Unfortunately there seems to be some really sharp edges still:
  • JB Style cards are not working correctly. They don't list correct in the pull down. Test case. Set an alarm for say 3 minutes from now. Put phone asleep or let it fall asleep when alarm triggers the "card" is not displayed, touching the screen cancels the alarm. On all other CM10 builds a card is displayed over the lock screen. This is only one example, seems to me ( no expert ) that something isn't linked or connected correctly. Sill researching this ( all comments are welcome )
  • BlueTooth is still broken ... bad ( I only care because of my $60 speaker investment )
  • Latest versions of gapps seems to break the ROM ( need to verify this but wanted to mention it ). Keep getting random com.google.gsapp error dialog mostly on sync events from Google based apps. I will re-test with a clean install, what version of gapps is the "recommended" version please list source so I can verify or disprove my findings?

Finally I vote for "install your own audio manager" since personally I like DSP manager that comes with stock CM9/10 over Acid. Don't know if this can be delivered in an zip? This way everyone gets what they want.

use "gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip" the only one that needs "gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip" is wild ride for the night on xda which is 4.2

also "gapps-jb-20121130-signed.zip" is just the first gapps for 4.2 so dont use it either.

Thanks will re-try with gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
I did have gapps-jb-20121130-signed.zip on and it made the phone act funky.
Let me get back to a known clean state and verify my findings latter on this weekend.

Thank you for the rom, everything is running so nicely! Installed the Slimbean AIO instead of the original gapps you posted originally.

Three bugs I've found so far:

-In the notification drawer, I've added the wimax toggle, but it doesn't do anything. I have to long press to enter wimax settings and manually turn it on.

-I also have the brightness toggle enabled in the notification drawer and it works well! Now, when I go to Settings --> Interface --> Notification drawer --> Widget buttons --> Brightness modes, it force closes and says "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped."

-No LED flashlight toggle. :( Using TeslaLED now, but really like having the toggle ability in my notifications. Sounds silly, but I use my phone as a flashlight quite a bit!

Right there with ya, bud. I rather enjoy having my flashlight in the notifications bar as a toggle

Edited? Are there more than one kinds of the JBear 1.50.5050?

Well theres the original, which was not edited for our phone. Ramjet has edited this file to include our phones hardware version or something. There is a post will his edited Hboots for our phone. If you get the one from the jbear site unlimited.io it will not work

That's correct. I added the SPCS_002 VM CID to the android-info.txt file which only includes the SPCS_001 Sprint CID in the version on the unlimited.io website.
