Migrating to new Android phone

Just got the GS4. I have a Skyrocket IIs. What's the best/most painfree way of transferring data.

Specifically -

Transferring Apps and their data/settings

It would also be nice (if possible) to transfer things like my wifi networks/passwords;

When I logged into my google accounts - email, contacts, etc synced. But apps didn't auto-download (which is "ok") - but I'd love to get a lot of my apps over without doing each one manually and also be able to retain the data within.

Best method?

If you have root on both devices you can use an app like titanium backup or other app. To do so backup apps to your SD card, transfer the SD card to the gs4 and set back up location directory to the SD card and then restore your backups.

and if not rooted on either device? Is MyBackup Pro the best way?

If you turn on "backup to google" on the s2 (if its on ICS) then factory reset the s4 and log in again it should give you the option to download all your apps. If you want them to keep their settings then as Prez says, Helium is the way to go

I'm attempting to transfer select data from my Galaxy s2 (2.3.6) to my Galaxy s4 (And 4.2.2) via MyBackup Pro. I'm assuming the time it takes for my 2 devices to find each other over the same wifi network should be within a 3 minutes? Currently, they're NOT finding each other. Is there anything else to making sure you're on the same network besides checking they're connected to the same name wifi network?

I suggest you use helium backup instead, unless both of your devices are rooted. Otherwise your app data won't transfer to your new device, but only the apps themselves.

both Heliums (freeware and premium versions) indicate they woN'T on Android 2.3.6.Was there something about utilizing the desktop component and the premium version that's a workaround for that?

Dumb question, but why is your S2 still on Gingerbread? It should be updated at least to 4.0 which is what Helium needs.

I wanted 4.x, but

1) Early on a combo of worrying about whether or not the hardware will be able to handle it,

2) couldn't figure out how to get it (I just assumed the update would be in the "software update" in settings, but all it got me was an update from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6),

3) adapted a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality

4) Later on, I was close to upgrading the phone that I figured the next one will just come with 4.x anyways.

5) I may do development one day, and even though at least 50% phones are on 4.x or higher, I figure it'd be nice to still have a 2.x device for testing.

So pretty much, parameters are Tmobile, unrooted, one Gingerbread, one Jelly Bean.

Best method for non root users is to format your sd card, slide it into the new device and re download apps. I find that to be pretty painless as on the play store you can look at the past apps you've downloaded and nearly all if them have a connection to facebook to reload your data..
