Root MikZ

Dammit....I spoke too soon...I am having the same issues. I think it is caused by Titanium backup. I am going to restore manuall and see if that helps.

Can any one recomend a good kernnel for this rom that is getting good battery life? I really like this ROM but my battery is draining fast, not sure if it's because my wife has me playing this stupid words with friends game or what.

Thanks,

Give netarchy toastmod a try. Click on my sig for the link.

Okay, I restored everything manually without TB and it is working excellently!!!! Fastest ROM ever!!! I am using the included stock kernel and it seems to be doing fine. I will say that I only have one full charge cycle on it and it did drain alaemingly fast down to 85% and then stabilized. I was able to get through a day(12 hours) with mild usage and still have 50%!!!

The one thing I noticed(and I may be imagining things) is that the "battery usage" in the settings menu actually displays how much each item uses as it related to battery life....not time of usage like it has been for the life of the phone. IOW, the display and voice calls are usually at the top of the usage chart because that is what uses the most battery. That did not use to be the case with past ROMS(versions of Sense). It seemed to be a function of time in the past. Like right now, it shows display at 43% and voice calls at 31%....I can tell you right now I have not had my phone display lit up for 5 out of the 12 hours the phone has been off the charger....but I do not doubt that the display has burned the majority of the battery as that is the main battery burner....folllowed by voice calls. Anyway, just an interesting observation.....

Gotcha. I usually just do a restore of my saved user data but everything else is reinstalled manually. Glad you got the rom working and figured out the issue.

Is there really no expectation of ever having working 4G with any of the Z ROMs? If so, that is a damn shame for folks like me that use it very frequently.

OK, so I just tried to flash a different kernnel for the Mikz rom Ive been running to see if I could get a little better battery life, the one I tried was netarchy 4.3.1 cfs havs nosbc and after the flash it would not reboot, just kept going to bootloader each time, so I had to do a restore. Any ideas why that happened?

I flashed this ROM last night and I love it so far! I have SetCPU but it looks like it maxes out at 998-1000 MHz. I take it the kernel on this is stock (htc #15) cannot overclock? I tried looking at all the different Netarchy Toastmod kernels, but man there are too many to choose from and some are CFS/SBC (have no clue) and havs/nohavs. I need to read more to figure those out.

This proovided me with alot of useful info, and explained the cryptic acronyms that kernels have. :D
If you have any questions just ask. :)

Your observation is correct. The stock kernel cannot be overclocked. The reading suggested above is a good one. It is really just a matter of understanding what all those letters mean and how they affect the stability and performance of your phone.

Kernels are very small files and only require a cache/dalvik wipe to flash so I just send a bunch of different ones to my SD card and then try them to see how they work. If one doesn't work out, then just flash another.
