Root Miui .29 (latest version) Theme Manager force closing!

Hi Guys

I rooted, well no, my friend who knows what he is doing, rooted my phone to .29 the other day and Im getting FC when trying to apply online themes from theme manager. I have no idea how to resolve it, and have been looking for AGES and can't work out how to sort it out. Is anyone else having or had this problem? I really want to resolve it as I love this Rom. Tried downgrading but it was in chinese.

Failing that, anyone else recommend any other roms that will help with battery life (miui seems to be the best so far) also loving how you can make folders on the home screen.

tried that as well :( I read somewhere updating to .30 some somewhere but can't find out where. Can you recommend any other roms? and do you have links? Need it to help prolong battery life. Miui seems to make it last twice as long as when I had the stock software on! x
 
Hehe, sorry.

It's just alternative configs of CM7 which will allow you to increase performance/battery life.

Yes, you can change themes, you can even make your own.
 
Also, are you using miui.us? I tried "english" miui and it had Chinese in there! never had a single character anything but English with the miui.us ROM, from ROM manager :)
 
right, i've tried us version of .29 and still i get force close when on theme manager. Tried downgrading to older versions of MIUI and that force closes constantly. I have no idea whats going on with this and it's getting so annoying. They say rooting is good, but so far I've never been able to get it right :( The link to the rom you had also force closes when I go to the 'here' link on my phone. *sigh*

Are you wiping all data, cache and dalvik cache? Maybe the problem lies in there!
 
I did remove user data, and the cache, but its STILL fc when in theme manager :( completely run out of ideas on how to fix it. Is there a bug or something?

I didn't have the problem I don't think, but I switch roms usually at least once a day ish! I didn't stick to miui for long at all!

I have spent literally ALL DAY trying to sort this, and still no luck. I've installed earlier versions of MIUI (prior to the latest .29 version) and all those just FC constantly. I've tried deleting cache, I've tried deleting user data.. go to theme manager and straight away FC. What the hell is going on with this? It's stupid.. seriously :( I don't like many other Roms as they kill battery life, where as MIUI seems to double it! Please please help as sad as it sounds I'm getting pretty desperate as I am a novice to all of this.
 
Both variants of CM7 (7.0.3 & 7.1) I've tried have perfectly acceptable battery life, as has LeeDroid. What sort of battery life are you getting when you try other ROMs?

If you go into Settings -> About Phone - Software Information, which radio are you using? It's underneath where it says baseband version.

I don't like the layout of CM7 particuarly :S

I'm trying out Android Revolution HD atm, battery life is superb!

Fair enough, it's not for everyone.

That's an older radio and not recommended for most newer ROM's, that could be the cause of your battery issues.

Flashing a new radio is very easy, but it's a pretty risky procedure (if done incorrectly, it can brick your phone). This post gives a link to the guide.

Have a read, does it look like something you want to try?
 
It's hard to say. I highly doubt it, but it's not beyond the realm of possibility.

Different ROMs are designed to work with specific radios so if there's a mismatch it can potentially cause problems. Most are connected with battery life though.

Which version of MIUI do you currently have installed? Got a link?
 
currently using 1.7.29, tried other versions but as I said before, they just FC before I do anything and therefore make it unusable. sorry for all the posts, I'd like to just get this problem sorted tbh so your help is very much appreciated
