Root MIUI Answering Calls Is Not Working

ndh777

Android Expert
I switched over to MIUI earlier this week and it's been giving me one huge problem and that's when I try to answer a call. I slide down the bar and then it tries to answer the call but it just ends up giving me a force close screen saying that phone.apk has crashed. Many other people have had this problem too on the latest version of MIUI but none have come up with a solid solution other than downgrading which I'd rather not do.

Making calls to people has no problems at all, it's just answering incoming calls.

got to ask the age old did you try wiping cache and dalvik cache?

And something else that i have seen work surprisingly well lately, have you tried fixing permissions?

What miui are you on? I've seen this listed as a known bug over on xda a few times. I believe swypers is working fine

I haven't tried that flavor of rom, I don't think. I really do like the battery bar they got from it though.

But damn, a rom that makes it hard to answer your phone? that would be a real pita!

I love MIUI, I wish I had an anthrax kernel for it though.

I never could get it set up the way I liked, but now I'm on spring break so maybe ill give it another go.

Tiiiiiiiiiime is on my side......

Much appreciated for the answers guys.

That's weird. The other person that I saw on a MIUI forum that had this problem was on a different phone than the HTC Evo 4G too like a Droid or something which I found interesting. Thanks for flashing and checking for me.

I actually didn't wipe cache and the like lmao :p I'll try it but I don't think it'll do much good for me.

My version is 1.12.30 and I have the stock kernel.

I always come back to MIUI. I usually end up leaving because of a lack of 4G but come back because it's one of the coolest, sportiest, easiest ROMs available to us. I switched from Synergy cause this app gave my phone a nasty virus  ad the virus actually followed me over to MIUI. Crazy.

But anyway, yeah, since that whole virus scare, I have wiped the phone clean and started from fresh MIUI flash and not even using my Titanium backups cause it was so bad. So I doubt that the virus could've caused it.

I'll try wiping dalvic and cache and seeing if any change occurs. Thank you for the help guys.

Update:

I flashed the latest MIUI from swiperrat found here:[ROM]MIUI 2.3.2_b1 (Gingerbread) - xda-developers

I can confirm that I get no FC's when answering calls.

I took an hour to get this thing set up how I want it.... and I'll be rocking it til Tommy's Classic drops

i can confirm this as well, very stable , no phone answering FC's well worth your try...i am running with stock kernel, and battery life is fantastic...cant wait to try it with a tiamat kernel this weekend...

love MIUI and MIUI themes...lots of optios for customizations...

i got lots of FC's with anything past 1.12.9, then this dropped and all was AWESOME

How weird. I'll try downloading from that location instead and reflashing.

I wiped cache and dalvic last night yet the force closes continued all day today.

On a side note...how are your cameras working?

Ever since day one of using MIUI, the front camera has never ever worked for me using the stock camera app. Oddly enough, the front camera does work in other third party camera apps though.

What happens with mine is that the screen is fine for regular, back camera use but then when I switch to front camera, the screen is all blurry and green and purple static.

does it work on other roms? make a nandroid backup and flash another rom and see if it is miui. if it is miui, then it could be a bad flash or download.

Sorry I haven't been on to update you guys.

I flashed that MIUI that you sent me Rxpert and it does work! I can receive calls now. Although my front camera still doesn't work on the stock camera app. I don't really care about that but this is great. Thank you.

I haven't restored anything from Titanium yet just to see if this issue is arising because of restored content from TB or not. If anything does happen after TB restoration, I'll be sure to let you guys know and see if I can find the source of the problem for other members' sake.

Update again.

I restored almost all of my old content and it is all working fine. I can receive calls so the problem is fixed. Front camera still doesn't work for me through stock camera app.

The one that I used from Rxpert's post was 2.3.2 b1 es
MIUI 2.3.2 b1 es

The only thing that I really don't like is how my status bar has changed but that's no biggie. Instead of the time being in the right hand corner, it's in the middle of the notification bar. I didn't read everything like I should have but after skimming the page, there are differences that have been specifically made to this bar which vary upon download.

You can change the position of the time in the settings.

EDIT: i cant for the life of me find that option though... maybe you cant

its in the MIUI "control panel' which is a separate "app" on miui, looks like a green android guy..lots of cool ways you can set up your bar there...

thing i cnat figure out is the "app drawer" there are settings for it in controll panel, but where is it???

Thank you!

I thought that MIUI removed the app drawer completely from their ROM?

While still on the topic of MIUI...has anyone found any apps that are compatible with MIUI to create ringtones from mp3s? I tried creating some but the file format apparently isn't compatible with the ringtone selector. And when I tried just allowing it to create ringtones from mp3s, the ringtones never play. It always does that annoying ringing noise indicating that no sound has been applied.

You pull the app drawer down by touching the upper right portion of the screen just under the status bar.

You must enable the app drawer first though,

Also, while were on the subject..... Anytime I get a phone call the first time the person calls they say they get a busy signal, and then if they call right back it works. I'm not on the phone during this time and the phone doesn't ring the first call.

Thoughts?

Interesting. People have been calling me for years and never gotten a busy signal from me on any phone or any ROM that I use.

Do you have any apps that have access to the phone like a number blocker?

...maybe your on to something.

I use TheftAware and that has access to pretty much everything. I'll play around with that as my variable.

Never given me problems on MikG though

I'm finding out that MIUI is a very different ROM than others and runs much differently such as using different formats. Hopefully you fix it.
