Root MIUI Help.

Thought it would be best to make a thread separate from the original MIUI one just so we don't clutter it up.

And I also need help...I am on CM7 and want to switch.

Ok so I have the latest version (2.0) and plan to flash it. I am currently running Clockwork Recovery (not sure what version, it is old though) .

What's the basic straightforward way of getting this onto the phone and flashing it?

Radios : which one is the newest? I looked into the Radios thread but was unsure of what to use( MR 2.5 or GB? or...? Also with radios, how do you install it?

Finally onto MIUI: full wipe correct?

The newest radio is the "possible GB OTA" located under the "mr3" in the radio thread

You'll probably need to update CWM or try an alternate recovery, like TWRP. Go into ROM Manager and select "update ClockworkMod Recovery"

MIUI 2.0 is Vicious MIUI and it's based off of Ice Cream Sandwich. You will need to do a full wipe coming from CM7. Even switching between GB MIUI and Vicious MIUI would require a full wipe

The best way to flash the ROM is to flash it in recovery just like any other ROM you've ever ran

To be safe. I would update your Clockworkmod Recovery.

Radio: You will want the latest radio from the latest OTA update. There is a sticky in this forum of all things root that will bring you to that. To flash a radio you will also read that thread, but i will repeat it here.

Download the radio that you want. Then you will will CHECK THE MD5 HASH. Twice, because when flashing things in the bootloader we don't want anything to be corrupt. After that you will have to rename the folder to something, but since I haven't renamed in a while I forget the name. It will be something like PMG510.zip

Put that file on the root of your sd card and boot into your bootloader, and accept the radio update. Boot into recovery, full wipe and flash MIUI and enjoy!

Hmm. I try to move the radio to the root yet it comes up with an error that says

"java.io.FileNotFoundException:/PG05IMG.zip(Read-only file system). I go to Root Explorer to change permissions but what I check and press ok, it says Permissions cannot be changed....I am confused... I am using Astro too...still not getting what I am doing wrong :/


EDIT: Hmm, so I mounted SD as R/W in Root Explorer yet when I still try to move it to root. Which in Astro would just be a folder icon/ in the top bar right? or would it be mnt?. It still gives me the error : "java.io.FileNotFoundException:/PG05IMG.zip (Permission denied)....
