THIS IS NOT A DATA UPGRADE!!

1. What does this do?
This is a modification to the services.jar framework file, that allows you to have an un-throttled internet.
2. Will this make my internet faster?
Yes and No. This will not "Upgrade" your internet. This only takes the trottle off, so you can download, or play games and not have to worry about it hitting a certain peak and lagging from that point on. It doesn't provide you with a new internet, only a warm fuzzy feeling from knowing you don't have to worry about it capping off.


!WARNING!
This may or may not cause your mobile data to force close when going into your settings/wireless & networks/mobile networks! This is not fixable and is specifically due to the removal of the data governors!
HOWEVER :)
You can use a data enabler widget from the play store to easily toggle your data on and off! So the force close issue is really a petty issue because its easier to toggle from your home screen anyways. ;)

in any case, though, if you have a problem with the force close issue...dont use the mod...simple as that.

so i made the mod! I dont really have that awesome of mobile data where i live anyways and im only one person so please post your thoughts and results here if you would :)

I made this mod from the BrokenOut Connect ROM so this is the only rom i cn confirm that it works on.

*NOTE
if you are running a rom or theme that already has some services.jar mods then this mod will wipe out those other mods. I would suggest using the linked thread to mod your services.jar yourself :) or i can do it for you no prob :)

-Copy Zip file to sd card
-Boot to recovery
-Make Backup
-Flash Theme
-Reboot

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WIPE DALVIK AND CACHE IF YOU DONT WANT TO!! I HAVE IT SET IN THE UPDATER SCRIPT TO AUTOMATICALLY WIPE IT FOR YOU :)

What exactly does this do? You said it didn't give us "more" internet. That it only allows us to have unthrotelled data, which only happens when we reach our data cap. What am I missing?

You're missing the part where Metro may still throtle your speeds even if you havent reached your cap, this mod *helps* or at least claims to keep the speed steady. thats why is important to provide feedback after installation, the more feedback the better to prove this mod actually works or is simply a plasibo effect. I have not used it personally yet as i have no real issues with the speeds.
 
Sorry if I'm missing the point here. Does this give you unlimited data and keep your data from being throttled even you hit your data cap?
 
No, this doesn't allow you to keep data if you reach the (lets say 2gb) cap. Metro throttles you a bit even when 4g cap isn't reached. So you still have 4g but a slow 4g.

This allows you to remove that throttle and keep a faster 4g until you reach your data limit and 4g is taken away. If i am not mistaken.
 
i was worried about questions like this lol. here is my best answer

well there are data governors on the phone that stop the data from staying at a certain speed. say if i was downloading something and the top speed i was allowed to reach with my data was 10mb per second (just an example). as soon as my data reached 10mb per second it would drop down to lower than that because it was capped. but with the data governor removed it will be able to stay at 10mb like with a car governor kinda. its not gonna turn a honda civic into a mustang lol. its just gonna help that civic reach its full potential by taking the governor off. does that answer your question??
 
It works. I did it the hard way by following directions from xda. I saw the post about this in the esteem forums a week ago or so. Thanks pbot :thumbup:

Well there really isn't a fool proof way to tell lol...but if it boots back up after flashing then the governors are removed. It won't hurt your phone so no worries. But other peeps in this thread said they noticed a difference in their data speed so I expect that you will too :D
