Root [MOD] Remove Clock in Notification Bar

^ If you have a Captivate, why in the world are you attempting to do anything with a Droid X Theme, ROM, or Modification???

So there not a Clock removal for Captivate? I am new to all this and I just don't need the clock on the Notification Bar.

Thanks

You'd need to check with the Captivate Themers and ROMers, because most everything from another phone, let alone another manufacturer, are not going to work.

Thanks so much for info. I do believe all the info for the Notification Bar in is the services.jar file. I have the one that has been modified for the clock removal. I assume I could rename my present file and then place this new file in the framework folder and if it didn't work I could go back and move the new file and change name back on the original.

I'm going to let someone else answer cause I do not know.

I just made this post on Captivate Forum and am waiting to see what they say. I have in past made changes to files this way by renaming old file and replacing it with new ones but this is a tad more detailed than those.

Thanks again

so im running a rooted droid x running 2.2.340 and on darkslides rom. is this mod compatable with orther roms running 2.2.340 or just yours.

Is this working on the other current fab, themes like revolution blue

Edit, never mind I just installed it, and it looks good, it just hung a few minutes at the '' android'' boot up screen.

Thanks again Fab

Hehee.. yeah, something to consider: The car dock uses the notification bar to display the time. If you rememver the time from it, you then no longer have time displayed on your car dock.

Oy, you're right. Well, I'm sure there are more painful ways to learn this lesson. I guess I will just have to back everything up and reinstall.

If anyone knows how to get it back please chime in and save me some time. :-P

this is probably a dumb question but do I need to wipe data and cache?
I checked one of the "all in one guides" but either missed or the info was not there. Do I need to wipe / cache for all themes or mods?

thanks for helping a newbie

No need to wipe anything.

I know it's in the Droid X forums, but will this mod work for my LG Ally?

No way, but this mod can be easily recreated for the Ally, just ask one of the devs for that device.

I guess I should have checked for your answer before I did it, cause now my phone is stuck on the verizon splash screen. Lucky I created a backup...now to remember how to flash it over.

Why you would try a mod from one phone to a different phone is completely beyond me.
(PS: don't try any Iphone jailbreaks either!) LOL!
(Kidding!)

This is nice!! but i have a dumb question now... how do we get the clock back if we wanted to.... i guess we dont know what we have until we've lost it :) i am sure i can restore my nandroid back up.. .but there has to be a easier way right?

You can try re-applying the original services.jar you had installed before doing the clock mod since that's what is modified to remove the clock.

If that doesn't work, then nandroid :D

where can i find this services.jar is it in the framework-res.apk?

my clock is the same color as my status bar . its rooted and im runnung liberty rom i think it is. can some one tell me how to get it show up again?

The last few posts are about how to restore it, when people realized that its the same clock navigator and maps uses. You don't WANT to loose the clock, seriously!
