Root Modding a ROM

Hi

Am after some advice, I am interested in taking some of the components from one rom to another and was wondering if this is something a relative noob could do.

I am currently running the latest oxygen 2.3, which I am really enjoying, however having recently been using Redux 2 (31.08 test build) and really like a couple of the feature in that such as the status bar and CRT screen switch off, which I would like in the oxygen rom.

Any advice etc on how to do this would be great and I also thought (hoped) this could be a gentle introduction into doing more with / for my desire.

heres the crt just flash in recovery not sure what u mean by status bar?

Or notification bar or what ever else you would like to call it. Where you have the option of power controls. Email notificatilns etc

You're not going to be able to do power controls. That needs to be done at source. sorry.

Have things changed in Oxygen v2.3 then? I'm running Oxygen v2.2.2 and it has CRT off animation (if you turn on all animations in settings) and status bar toggles for all usual suspects (wifi, screen-timeout, data etc etc) - is there some additional stuff in Redux2? Might have to check it out then, as well as dGB

I'll pack up and go home now. Completely missed the animation setting and as if by amazement the crt shutdown works. How daft do I feel..........

As for the toggles I really like the redux 2 display so was wondering how hard it would be to mod oxygen to be the same?

Incase my previous answer was not clear enough impossible without working at a source code level. Put it this way, you will need to insert the Redux source code into the Oxygen Source code and compile the rom from source. or in otherwords, be a rom developer.

I myself am waiting for the Redux source to become available so I can see how it is done and added to dGB.

Sounds like we may have a long wait on this though as apparently ihlades has dropped R4edux 2 for now.

well he released his test build, hes entitled to release sources surely

Yes he said he would release sources after a final release had been stable for a little while, but since he has dropped the current release, it could be some time.
