If you don't have CL14 you won't have the Sprint Recovery Mode. And you won't be able to use the update zip feature unless you have actually put CL14 in a zip or 2.1 in zip on your Micro SDcard. So the easiest way to update up to 2.1 or down to 1.5 CL14 is to use the Sprint Update Utility that is downloaded from Sprint...I hope this clears things up for you and you get it all figured out.

To find out if you have CL14 go to Menu button> settings>about phone>and in there it should say CL14 if you see CJ05 you don't have the latest software update... Also make sure you are not touching the camera or voice control buttons and you hold down the buttons all the way through the loading screen or you won't be able to get to recovery mode.

Calculating the square root of negative 1? I'm in college as well, my math teacher said that you do the square root of the number and put the negative sign in front... In that case, wouldn't it still be √-1? Or -√1?

Thanks to everyone for this plethora of information! I never would attempt anything without it.
I flashed my phone Friday night using the Sprint update tool.
Anyone who hasn't done it should not fear as it is not difficult. I have never messed with a cell phone and had no problems. You are using Sprint's software, but changing the .tar - very easy.

Anyway, I noticed a major drain from the battery last night. I have battery indicator and it shows the temp. Usually it ran around 86*, but last night it was at 109*. :confused:

This morning however, it is running normally and the temp is back to 86*.
I think maybe the flash and re-installing all my apps had the processor running full throttle? I used Astro without issue BTW. I am using Pandahome for 5 screens. All of my music works with the Android player.

The only complaint so far is I cannot get youtube to work. Anyone have a fix? I will try to reboot several times. I would also like to get the ESPN app on Panda???

I am happy about the camera, direct dial, lock screen, extra apps, new music player, etc. I'm sure I'm missing/haven't found other stuff.

I will wait to root for now.

Jack root is ready to go no need to wait, joey's v5 actually improves the phone and adds root at same time, and the stream apps problem is fixed, if you need links i'll provide but just go to sdx they have everything laid out for you and what to do.
 
All you do is flash the dd03 with joey's recovery included, which i'm not sure if you did that or dd03 stock, then just shut down phone go into recovery and apply the v5.zip and bam done.

For fixing the streaming apps problem you need root to fix it unless you hassle sprint.

I have searched here and SDX forum but I do not know what the next step is.
I found some 'how to' links, but I think I am missing a step somewhere.
Do I need to connect to my PC or download an app?
I don't need to delete many of the stock apps, but I would like to fix the streaming issue and get the live wallpaper.

Just a link would help. I don't mind reading.

For just live wallpapers alone go here Live Wallpaper for 2.1 (WORKING!), 3D N1 Drawer (Working with some issues.)

Just basically look around those forums they have everything in detail explained.

well all of you did not pay attention in school the square root of -1 is 1i
without that concept all computers would not work. And to think 120 years ago that number did not exist. So now you all learned something

Well the battery holds up fine, but it DOES have that annoying bug where it doesn't read properly. However I'm confident numus and the gang will get it nailed out like they always do.
