Root Moonshine s-off for k2_cl [BOOST]

I've run into a problem where I have a ghost virtual device listed under devices. I believe this is causing an issue where the Distiller script doesnt reboot my phone into Fastboot. I've dealt with this before by manually entering my device ID while rooting, but the script is encrypted and thus I'm unable to attempt the same task. I have confirmed there are no virtual devices installed, and unsure how to find the culprit.

You can do this with his kernel but you'll need to re-flash it again once you're done. This has already been mentioned several times in this thread.

EDIT_
LOL.... Kreatur3.... you beat me to it!

Also, I restarted both my PC and phone to reset adb but i still do it, it says (F**********) click enter to exit, and then i check to see if it worked and it doesnt it still says s on??????? what do i do

I got the the Moonshining(1).... step and it went all the way to 10, then stopped and i got a error, it looks like the MTP USB device driver wont install right, ive tried uninstalling it and it still wont work, does anyone have a fix for this?

Yeah, I have done the process so many times and restarted my PC and Phone a lot. It only fastboots and adb once until it goes F********* and then i need to press enter to exit. It never S-Offs my HTC. What the hell, I still have ICS and everything the same, rooted, busybox, no antivirus or anything. Cmon man we need better instructions

Have you ran the distiller as administrator? Just making sure too, we are talking about disabling the anti-virus on the computer, not the phone. Just wanted to clarify that.

Also, you are running stock ICS right? I was running the Sickle Kernel but everything else was stock.

Its working now that I made a factory reset. No need to disable Anti virus or run as administrator since no files are used that need admin permissions

Yeah, I didn't have to do any of that. Didn't have to do a factory reset either. :D

A few of the other members did have to run as Admin and disable anti-virus to get it to work though. Figured I'd throw it all out there since you were having trouble getting it to work. Sometimes these phones have a mind of their own! lol

Anyways, glad you got it working! :D

I just noticed that Moonshine has versions up for the new firmware?

HTC One SV ROM Version
================================
HTC One SV (k2_cl) Linux 2.06.653.5
HTC One SV (k2_cl) Windows 2.06.653.5

Anyone brave enough to test this yet?

I would but I'm already s-off. :) Hopefully people will just do it before updating but eventually those phones will be shipped with the new version and having moonshine up to the newest will be handy for them. :)

Here is wetbiker's well typed out instructions, it is the same way I got it to work for me. Figured I would update the original post so it is easier to find.

You must be running ICS.

Make sure you have removed HTC sync from you computer. Also, make sure USB debugging is enabled in developer settings on your phone.

If you have HTC sync, make sure that you reboot the pc and the phone so that everything is reset and the files are completely removed from the pc.

Unzip the Moonshine zip that you downloaded and place it in a folder. With your phone fully booted, plug in USB and connect to pc. Click on the distiller and follow the prompts. Also, make sure you have a good charge on your phone because it'll take it between 5 and 10 minutes.

Also, if you are running a custom kernel, you will need to reinstall it after you have finished with Moonshine.

Edit: disable anti-virus and run the distiller as administrator.

Hope this helps.

Any more ideas?

if device manager shows my htc then phone should be seen. if it wasn't u wouldn't be able to start moonshine s-off. try rebooting pc and phone. then start the moonshine app again

This may be excruciatingly obvious to others, but I just wanted to mention something here as it relates to the Moonshine s-off. There are two versions listed for k2_cl on moonshine.io, and as explained to me previously:

rom version 1.11.653.1 = ICS

rom version 2.06.653.5 = JB

To find this information on your phone (assuming some version of JB), go to Settings -> About -> Software Information and see "Software number". I believe Shin's very nice JB ROM from earlier was a 2.04.x.x and NOT a 2.06.653.5. Therefore, if you happen to be using Shin's JB ROM (or others that are NOT 2.06.653.5), then this will not work. When I tried, it did not fail catastrophically (thanks). Running 'sudo ./distiller' failed at Test 2 with error: "ERROR: ADB failure", despite an adb server that was running when the process was started (with no interruption from me). This is an issue I won't be able to solve, but I wanted to write this down in case someone else in the ether came across it.

EDIT for a separate issue:
So with my new 2.06.653.5 in hand, I decided to try to run the moonshine s-off this morning. It went through the tests and did 10 Moonshining stages of the dots before failing with the cryptic error: "ERROR: Don't drink and shine!!" Perhaps unsurprisingly, my device is not s-off after this. That error message is pretty much useless, albeit amusing. :) Reminds me of my own code ... oh, shoot. Internet says to do a full power down and reboot and try again. I will at some point and will update.
